An age old classic added with some cool music and visuals. Its my go to game whenever I feel sad and just wanna think. It allows me to space out while still focusing on something. I'm also a god at this game and could possibly be considered my favourite game of all time.
Thats me describing any form of Tetris btw just this one is just my most played.

Tetris effect has been an experience. It can be both relaxing and stressful and I absolutely love it. It has lots of content to keep you playing for a while and it's a must play for tetris fans, it keeps the experience familiar while giving it a twist for it to feel fresh enough for it to be compelling but not at the point where it changes it dramatically.

celeste but for tetris games

Honestly kind of a letdown after Lumines: Electronic Symphony. Too much downers not enough bangers.

Any Tetris game is like crack to me so ofc I loved this

i never thought tetris could make me cry (good) yet here i am

I played a lot of Tetris Friends in college. College was a dark and depressing time in my life. The rat race of academia, the mounting debt, the failed relationships, and the looming threat of poverty in our crumbling world without the necessary diploma was heavy on the head. Tetris Friends was a frantic and stressful Facebook game full of ads and a hierarchical matchmaking multiplayer where super freaks from far away countries would t-spin your whole body and shake you for your lunch money. I think I got pretty good at tetris in this time.

Eventually I did graduate from college and I deleted Facebook and tetris left my life for nearly a decade.

Now I return to tetris, an adult riddled with hippie love and big boy drugs and I see that tetris, in my absence, has done much the same.

I absolutely adore Tetris as a game and as a franchise, and Tetris Effect does it a complete justice. Not only is it frankly gorgeous, it introduces the Zone mechanic, which makes it really interesting. The multiplayer mode is just as fun as the story mode, which is a great sign for a great game.

Another solid Tetris entry with great states and music, but I'd also argue that the overly positive praise the game got isn't necessarily deserved. I'd equate it as a decent sequel to Tetris Axis, but not revolutionary in its own right. I do like some of the online/social aspects the game is pushing, but the online matchmaking itself is so-so, with pairings sometimes taking several minutes or not pairing at all.

dont play this game with a asian guy

Tetris itself is a timeless classic and this game brings it to the next level with dynamic music and beautiful level design. The OST is worth owning.

This is Tetris, but instead of the usual boring gray background there are neat images and cool trance music. Unfortunately, I didn't really get to enjoy any of that because I suck at Tetris, and all of my attention was focused on not losing the game. This is a weird one where I would have liked this game immensely more if I wasn't the one playing it.

Best $40 you'll ever spend on Tetris

this game is so mind meltingly incredible that its a tragedy how short it is. this is an actual problem, because the incredible ending doesn't feel properly built up to, and felt like it hit out of nowhere. still an incredible game that made me cry.

Tetris is 35 years old now. It’s also a perfect game. The question is how do you improve on perfection? Tetsuya Mizuguchi knows how.

how the fuck does tetris make me cry. how did they do it

Tetris is a classic game. In VR it is a soothing experience. The music, visuals, and gameplay are almost hypnotic.

It’s Tetris cmon. But really I spent so many days just vibing to the music and playing the game

my favorite vr experience so far it makes me feel like a little rat wired in up a chair who keeps pressing the button for stimuli

You're never going to get a better Tetris experience. Enough said.

vibes, vibes, vibes out the goddamn ass. it is a spellbinding game for as long as it takes to complete journey mode - unfortunately i play tetris to be a tryhard and i think this game might be one of the least replayable iterations of tetris?

Completed Journey Mode on Expert difficulty. It's really amazing the difference that this exceptional presentation can make to the Tetris experience. Although largely the gameplay here is 'just' basic Tetris, the use of complementary graphical effects and - especially - music makes the game a hugely engrossing experience (and this is without having tried its VR capabilities, which can surely only enhance this further).

The one significant gameplay change is the introduction of "the Zone", a mode that can be triggered by filling a meter from clearing lines, which temporarily pauses new tetrominoes from dropping until you decide where to place them, while collecting all cleared lines during the mode together, to be cleared all at once when the "Zone" time has elapsed, allowing for more than the usual four lines to be cleared at once, with generous bonus point potential. This brings a nice strategic twist as you decide when the best time to trigger "the Zone" will be.

The game has a main 'campaign' ("The Journey") progressing through levels with a wide range of different musical/graphical sequences, but beyond this, there's a nice range of customisable game modes - from classic 'marathon' through to interesting twists such as targeting specific 'infected' blocks for bonus points - and potentially there's a huge amount of gameplay time to come from this, though ultimately I'm satisfied with my time with the game after completing The Journey on Expert and attempting each of the custom game modes a handful of times.

It's Tetris, but even more beautifully showcased than ever before with mesmerizing lights and gorgeous music. What more could you ask for? Perfect.

Tetris on the NES was the first video game I ever played, back in the mid-90s. My Grandma would play with me. I developed a love for the patterns in it. Matter of fact, this game may have cursed me for life with a deep-rooted, obsessive compulsive desire to find patterns in all things. I'm like Jim Carrey in that awful Number 23 movie he did.

Thanks Tetris.
