Fun and it was cool to play it with a friend but Internet features on the DS are gone :(

My first dragon quest game. Super charming. Love the simplicity and customizability of this entry

Mi comienzo con la saga dragon quest

gameplay was great i just wish so bad this didn't take the DQ3 model of party creation cuz i really wanted actual people accompanying me

Rating this game on its own merits, rather than as a Dragon Quest game since it's the only instalment I've played (although I do plan on playing XI very soon).
This game SLAPS. While some people might not like it, I really enjoy how the story follows a very loose structure, going from town to town, meeting various people, seeing their stories and helping them out. It's a really nice comfort game and one of the first real JRPGs I ever played. It can be a bit grindy and it's a shame that a good portion of its multiplayer content is now inaccessible, but I still have a lot of fun regardless. Also this game's sound design, just perfect.

Back when online was active this was a 9 / 5

700 horas y NUNCA me salió Dragris en una puta cueva para sacarle el 100%

UPDATE: Me salió Dragris pero me faltan 4 o 5 enemigos para sacarle el 100%

Favourite rpg ever 900 hours long

without a doubt my favorite jrpg i've ever played. an amazing job system, a great story with a better postgame, an endless dungeon crawler, and seamless multiplayer. this game showed me what rpg's could be and every one i've played since pales in comparison.

honestly, i often think my jrpg days are behind me. i'm too busy and too easily distracted to give these games the attention they need. the same is true for dq9 at this point. i've tried to start new playthroughs, but i'll never be able to immerse myself in this game like i did when i was younger. i hope some day i can find a game that makes me lose myself in it the way this one did. or they could just remaster it. i'd buy it again in a heartbeat if they remastered it.

This is undoubtedly my favorite game of all time.
I recently replayed it on an emulator and it still holds up after more than a decade. The visuals, although a bit dated, are still great and really capture the DQ vibes. The soundtrack is as great as it's always been. Characters are brimming with life instead of being lifeless NPCs. Even the story, which is very cliche, is amazing and not too complicated to follow, each town has it own little story which rounds itself up at the end of each 'arc' with some very touching moments.
Replaying this as an adult really makes you appreciate all the details they added in every nook and cranny of dialogue and world-building. The combat can make every battle interesting, from managing your health and mp, to buffing yourself and debuffing the enemy, to some amazing animated attacks and specials, it all flows very well together. Of course, the fact that you can make your own friends in-game or invite real-life friends over makes for unique adventures every time you play this game.
For me, this is a game with infinite replayability, especially after you reach the end game and start delving into grottoes and raid bosses.

TLDR; My favorite game EVER, I probably clocked in more than 800h on DS and emulator combined!

I LOVE DRAGON QUEST!!!!
I LOVE BEING ABLE TO MAKE MY OWN PARTY TO FIT MY OWN PLAYSTYLES STRAIGHT FROM THE SECOND TOWN!!!!!!
I LOVE BEING ABLE TO PLAY ALONGSIDE MY OWN FRIENDS AND HELP THEM IN THEIR OWN BATTLES!!!!!!!
I LOVE SPENDING HOURS FINDING CRAFTING RECIPES, DOING SIDEQUESTS, AND MAKING MY OWN STORIES WITH THE PARTY I CREATED!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE DRAGON QUEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Simply ethereal. My first Dragon Quest game and one of my favourites, if not, my favourite. Story is amazing, the themes of this game are wonderful, mixing the aspect of light and darkness and even so creates a merge between the two, and executing this very well. Towns and areas are beautiful. Soundtrack is simply outstanding and very fitting to the theme of the game. Customisation of party members and the way armour and weapons actually change the appearance of characters was a wonderful touch. Overall, a masterpiece and another Dragon Quest entry that did not fail to impress.

I played this game singleplayer only with NPC party members save for one session where a friend helped me beat some endgame bosses. During that session, I entered a part of the story where you're forcibly ejected out of co-op and stranded, deprived of even your NPCs. The rush of emotions I felt when I finished that segment and reunited with the characters that had been with me the whole time was one of the most deeply impactful experiences ive felt in a video game

This is the game of all time
The most polished combat system
Infinite replayability with the grotto system
Phenomenal multiplayer that allows you to play almost the entire game with friends

Solid game if you enjoy grinding, the postgame is all grinding. I think it aged a bit poorly, but it's still a fun game to (re)visit.

Muy solido, me encanta todo lo de este juego. Brutal

Despite its lack of real party members I can't really find anything about this game I dislike. It has a insane amount of customization giving it tons of replay value, I love the final villain, it's easy to get into, 100s of hours of optional content, monsters in the overworld, it's not the best looking DS game but it's certainly up there, optional multiplayer, and much more. On top of all that this game single handedly inspired the 3DS street pass feature which is great. I mean how many games can say they inspired a entire system feature?

most of the standard positives that come with a dragon quest game however you are completely deprived of any engaging party members as you are expected to play this multiplayer. in desperate need of a port to a system that allows wifi play to be able to enjoy the full experience.

i really love this game and i wish i could stream to show people the game but it would not be fun to watch

insane how huge it is for a 2009 ds game, big part of my childhood

el mejor juego de la ds probablemente, no se , un saludo

ゲーム会社の誰もがモンハンみたいなことをしたかった時期。実験的ドラクエだったと思います。

this reminds me of that tragedy

A golden standard for epic scale mobile RPGs

Spent so much time on this as a kid. Story is very hit or miss and the lack of characterisation for your party members sucks, but the customisation is through the stratosphere and the post-game content (if you can access it all) is enough to keep you going for hundreds of hours. Those legacy bosses are an amazing feature.
