I played the beta, that's all I'm allowed to say.

UPDATE: NDA dropped, can say that it's fun but got old rather quickly after so many playtests. Glad it's a PS+ game, otherwise I'd be waiting for a big sale to consider buying.

Much more frustrating than it is fun, Fall Guys is in a weird spot. It's very "wacky", unbalanced and generally luck based, as most, if not all, party games are. That's not bad by itself, of course. Party games have all the potential to be great, often stemming from reasons not related to the actual game, but from the laughs and experiences you have with friends. This is where it goes downhill for Fall Guys.
You're, for the most part, playing with complete strangers, as games are comprised of 60 people. Worse yet, even if you play with friends, those who get eliminated early are left to do nothing but spectate or go back to the main menu and wait, so it's almost more unfun(or has the potential to be) if you're playing with friends. Truly bizarre.

Maybe I just take things too seriously. Maybe I just hate fun.
What's for sure is that this was far from enjoyable for me.

[EDIT BELOW]
Turns out I'm a big dummie and due to some weird coincidence my controller broke as soon as I started playing this game.
Upon fixing it, I notice that a lot of the lack of control stemmed from the analog stick not working properly(more specifically not registering when being fully pressed forward all the time, so the entire time I was walking instead of running and wondering why everyone would easily run past me).
Some of the complaints remain: a lot of the individual games are a lot more luck than they are skill, and it's still very awkward to play with a group and get eliminated early for whatever reason.
That said, the score has been updated accordingly(from 1.5 to a 3), and I have to admit I had a lot more fun with the game once I could actually play it as intended.

review lost by clicking out of the window ;-;

fuck slime climb all my homies hate slime climb

When your guy falls it's more frustrating than losing the gulag

Getting tripped up by other people diving too much, losing because your team is just not putting any effort in a team game or just being bored playing a mode that's just too easy are the biggest plagues of this game. It's a really fun experience for the most part, but the challenge it poses is less on the levels themselves, but more on the sheer randomness that other players and object physics may provide. Cheap losses are endless. The game is based on individual success yet it commonly places you in a mode where you have to rely on a team to make it to the final round. Two of the final round levels are absolutely non-dynamic and just feel like blind luck with no strategy. The idea of future content and rotating out levels makes me hopeful for the game's future, and I do like it a lot. I just think it's a little too frustrating and unreliable for skilled players to win.
Also Slime Climb is the best level

It's a pretty fun game and I'm happy for an original take on the Battle Royale genre. But atm I think it lacks content and players will get tired quickly. You play the same levels all the time. Some levels are too easy, others almost completely random. It's really frustrating to get a cheap loss because someone blocked your way, stumbled on you or because the weird physics wouldn't allow your character to get up.
Slime Climb and Hex-a-gone are awesome levels tho.

this is fun but i suck at it

Divertido y Creativo. No hay mucho que decir.

Ta ligado as olimpíadas do Faustão? é tipo isso.

It's definitely a fun game, however, it tires out early on. I'm excited for some new content.

A pretty fun twist on all these battle royale games but gets repetitive too quickly, hopefully future content will enhance the game and those fucking crown wannabe vbucks... thank GOD they arent purchase only and you can actually win them

sometimes it's fun, sometimes it feels completely random. at best it's a great podcast game because you barely have to pay attention, and a great podcast game is always good to have.

I dunno, is it weird to have mixed feelings on this?

I like Fall Guys quite a bit, but there are some major nagging issues and overall design philosophies that just don't gel with me. I'd say out of any "battle royale" I've played, this is easily one of the best I've tried (would probably put Warzone above this but that's comparing apples to oranges). My issues stand primarily on the heavy amount of RNG the game's based around. There's an extremely small amount of skill required to play Fall Guys, which is great because that levels the skill floor and ceiling so that more players can enjoy the game, meaning it keeps a thriving community for players of all interests and ages; unfortunately, this means that matches will constantly flow in and out of your favor at the most random of whims. You may be killing it from round to round, only to have your jellybean guy get barraged with obstacles with no chance of getting back up and trying to qualify for a round; you might be doing fantastically in solo races and other events, only to be parred with people in a team event who don't understand that a ball needs to go into a hole for you to win the round. These mixes in match quality can helm a huge range of emotions, from getting lucky with the RNG draw and laughing your way to the bank with XP or even a crown, but can also infuriate you to no end because you got paired with half-brained chimps, or the obstacle RNG decided to beat you senselessly.

I do like that no matter your perfomance within a game, you're always working towards unlocking something with XP for the game's given season, yet that only slightly softens the blow when you get screwed over by the game's unpredictability, as well as its instability.

I know that server-related issues are still being worked on, which is a good thing. Even though I've only owned this game for a day, though, within the 15-ish matches I've played (give or take), I've had 3 crap out of me and disconnect me, which isn't normally too big of an issue, except for the fact that these disconnects have come late into games, where we were close to the end, and being kicked out due to bad server connections doesn't yield you any XP.

Although I'll keep the game in my Steam library, I feel the $20 price tag is just a tad steep, add on top of that a litany of microtransactions plaguing the shop (only to get worse, I'd expect). For a junk-food game (something to play for a little while and move on to something more engaging), it works for what it's trying to accomplish, but it could still use some ironing out of some issues; even then, I still see myself having a love/hate relationship with Fall Guys.

Before August is over, and if you have any interest whatsoever in giving this a go, I'd definitely pick it up on PlayStation 4, since it's currently one of the PS+ games on offer, so it's free of charge (with subscription, of course).

this is my psychological hell

MXC, Mario party, and the battle royale genre have a three-way. What you get is Fall Guys. A fun party game, especially with friends. Just know you're probably in for a few games as a spectator if you get knocked out early.

One of the best multiplayer games in a very long time - a blast with friends and still fun even without them. Each of the games, while similar, are varied and have tons of replay value. This game would thrive with updates, which it will surely have.

There are minor quibbles - the servers are a little wonky and while the maps are great, there are not nearly enough of them at this point. But overall, this is a must grab for fans of multiplayer games.

Pretty good, fun and original take on the Battle Royale genre, specially when every single one is identical.

Bem divertido e um tanto estressante, se não tivesse os desafios de equipe seria um jogo bem melhor e minha tv teria menos chance de ser acertada pelo meu controle.

miserable to play. even switching between the menus feels like moving through maple syrup. lame and miserable and bad

Many will chalk this up to being Twitch bait or LOL RANDOM, but as someone who's spent hundreds of hours on another battle royale games, this is definitely one of the better ones.

this game has brought me so much joy and anger, and that's exactly what i need right now.

Note: Review made shortly after launch

Of all the things for this Takeshi's Castle battle royale to remind me of, I was not expecting it to be Rainbow Six Siege. Rainbow Six Siege of 2015, that is. A cool idea and a good heap of fun, piled over by about as many issues and terrible decisions.

Any time I hit play on Fall guys, there's like a 60% chance the game is going to deliver one of it's really bad games. Fruit matching, any of the variants of tail tag, Jinxed, Hoarders - games that vary from being trivial to being boring to feeling like you have little direction over the outcome of the game - usually more than one of those. And it can absolutely suck. A couple of these games, particularly tail tag, feel so poorly thought out i have no idea how they got through any rounds of playtesting unchanged.

And then there's the technical issues which compound this. As of writing, the servers are working half the time, and when they are, the tickrate feels like it's somewhere below 10. More importantly, however, I feel it controls pretty poorly. There's noticeable input lag (feels about 200ms) on seemingly all actions, and for a game about falling over, the game bugging out whenever you do so and being arbitrary about you getting up sucks.

But for all those problems, Fall Guys somehow remains pretty fun. Just like Rainbow Six Siege in 2015, the base concept is just fantastic and the execution has a lot of things going for it. It's the first battle royale i've played where it doesnt feel bad to lose, thanks to very quick queueing, short round time and the comedic nature of it all. At the same time, winning still mostly feels great, and most of the games balance the amount of bullshit and the amount of skill in just the right amount to never feel like you havent deserved it.

There's a long way to go for Fall Guys. I've heard the Human Fall Flat devs are possibly working on a similar concept, which could leave Fall Guys looking like the PUBG to it's Warzone. But if the development goes the right way and more games are brought up to the standards of Slime Climb and Hexagone, this game could go the same direction as Siege.

Also wtf this developer worked on Hatoful Boyfriend?

No skill no talent only jellybeans

What even is the battle royale craze other than a meaningless, random colourful romp full of only superficially different games all clogging up the way as they push forward at once.

Fall Guys is a reflection of gaming culture.

No couch co-op is such a huge missed opportunity for this game.

De lo más divertido que puedes jugar con amigos online actualmente. ¿Quién dijo que los Battle Royale son todos violentos?
