Game suffered from severe power creep by the halfway point. Enemies could not keep up with my units as they promoted and continued to level up. Ran into a number of instances where just one of my units could annihilate entire squads of enemies with no challenge whatsoever. The story was also pretty weak, even for Fire Emblem standards. The main antagonist has a really pathetic and half-baked motivation for even doing the things he does.

this game is kinda trash ngl

It's fine. On my quest to play every Fire Emblem game, this was my final stop and it really did not have what it takes to stand out from the slurry of FE games I had played at that point.

I'm in the minority but this is my favorite overall FE game. 7 fixed some of unpolished mechanics, but I prefer how this is one long quest rather than the shorter divided scenarios. Also, Lilina rules.

dear God there's so much stupid bullshit in this one.

Fuck Roy, he is not my boy. I will fuck his wife.

Hey do you like babysitting not only the worst lord stat wise but multiple other bad units in a game that kicks your ass for having bad stats, then you'll love this.

As for me, this is a no

is japanese only and very hard but as long as you're not racist its a pretty fun game

Not the strongest showcase the series has.

More challenging than the sequel which was brought to the West. Looks a bit worse and has some fewer interesting characters, but how about that playable Brigand? Zephiel also looks cool, I have to admit it.

Fun game, easy to jump into with an emulator and a translation patch. Its Fire Emblem boiled down to its most basic form and is really where modern FE started.

Has a few problems design wise but largely a fun SRPG.

Lilina please DO NOT marry Roy, he is a cringy ass kid.

Im surprised the series didn’t die here

I'm surprised a lot of people rated it so low. I had an absolute blast collecting all the superweapons from the eight legends en getting the real ending. It's refreshing to use the best weapons before the absolute end of the game. The difficulty is higher than the other gba titles, but nothing i couldn't handle. Some of the maps are unnecessary big/slow, but with all the ups and downs i don't think this game is much worse than the FE masterpieces on the gba.

Thany is the cutest little shota ever!!!! UwU

I just kinda wish I was playing Fire Emblem 7

Several chapters made me absolutely miserable to be alive but it's a pretty solid Fire Emblem game

So good yet so glaringly flawed, and it's a shame that most casuals mostly pick up on the flaws and decide it's a bad game, because it's one of the most solid FE games with it's excellent difficulty and map design. The game is basically just a huge escort mission to get Roy to the throne, and yes, unit balance is terrible, and yes, hitrates are awful, it's a pretty janky game at times but it's otherwise so goddamn solid and genuinely challenging. As a strategy game, this is one of the better FE games.

its not a great fire emblem game really but theres something about it i like that i cant describe

Fun gameplay some good characters but a mediocre as heck story

this game is fun you guys are just mean

I enjoyed it but my save was lost and I found it quite tiring to make it that far so I need a long break before I try this game again

As much as this is not an inherently bad game, I do not appreciate its philosophy design. You know, I don't feel like this game is "home" to me. It's such plain story and unbalanced game.
Igrene x Astolfo is my favorite support in the franchise, though.

Do not like this game. Gameplay is bad. Most of the cast isn't good. Roy is boring. The story is very generic. Has some atrocious map design. The manga version, Fire Emblem: Hasha no Tsurugi, is much better. Read that instead.

A pretty great Strategy RPG that successfully rebooted the series for a new audience. Its wonderful visual style, well-developed world and interesting conflict make it a stand-out entry for the series. However, there are plenty of mechanics and levels that are a bit clunky to play through. The cast could also be developed a bit further, especially the main lead.

The best GBA Fire Emblem. Sorry, I don't make the rules.

Plot? Fantastic. Possibly one of the best. Mechanics?

WRETCHED. Every time I'm like "oh I should replay this" and every time I remember why I haven't.

Hiding the proper ending behind keeping certain units alive and weapons un broken seems completely at odds with other mechanics in the game, i.e perma death / durability. I feel like this really lets the game down as it forces players into a mind set of resetting over every little mistake and this can make playing the game really draining and boring. To compound these issues the game features reinforcements which move as soon as they spawn which given the inflated stats on hard mode can cause first time players to suffer a cheap loss which they couldn't avoid. I think these issues really harm the fun in FE and make it harder to get people into the series.

Having to have roy seize each chapter is also a slog and will just end with you carrying him around with your fliers. Rescue dropping can be entertaining every now and again but the whole game being like that can get dull.

If you're a fan of the series maybe do a play through on normal, if you're really into min/maxing stuff then you may get something out of hard mode too.

i genuinely dont remember why i like this game
