Hi, I'm the first person on Backloggd to log Jet Set Radio Future and I'm glad my first-ever invocation of "First" is for a thing I'm shamelessly in love with.

I appreciate how they stuck to the core elements in the final instead of moving away from platforming, it really gave me the sense of being practiced at timing and momentum.

And of course, the soundtrack slaps

Exploring the colorful, open world of Tokyo-To is a blast and every single song on the soundtrack is an absolute banger. (Yes, even Birthday Cake.) Without a doubt my favorite game on the OG XBOX. I can't even begin to describe how much I love this game in this tiny text box.

Loved it. Terrific soundtrack, engaging gameplay, wonderful art direction. A classic.

A fantastic evolution of Jet Set Radio's gameplay and one of the most rad games aesthetically ever made, Jet Set Radio Future rocks.

A perfect sequel. Some levels can be challenging due to platforming and skating mechanics meshing together. The soundtrack is recommended for casual listening. Why doesn't this game have a modern port yet? We will never know.

Love the force and attitude that this game exudes; it's like a little window into the very late 90's-early 2000's MTV culture.

Yeah!! This is DJ Professor K, baby, the master of mayhem you know what i'm sayin' bringing you another Tokyo underground pirate radio broadcast from Jet Set Radio! I'm gonna bust into your head through your cute lil' ears and blow your minds with my sexy voice and out-of-sight sounds! Those of you prone to nosebleeds should keep those tissues handy, suckas!

When me and my older brother woke up Christmas morning we thought we have a PS2 sitting under that tree, but instead it was an Xbox.

First we disappointed, we asked for a PS2 and we got this instead? What were our parents thinking? But then we found this bundled disc which had this and Sega GT 2002. We hooked up the Xbox and start the one we liked the look of.

We never said anything bad of our parents again, as we feel in love with this amazing game.

This is probably the best video game ever made

It's already been said, but this is the most hip hop game ever. Don't debate me.

genuinely perfect game that somehow manages to be perpetually overhyped. beautiful, play it

If you don't like this game, you don't have a soul.

I haven't played in nearly a decade but the soundtrack gets constant replay to this day. I loved the story, style and game play. I did remember some boss fights feeling janky but Taggers Tag is still strong in my mind.

One of the best games on the original xbox!
i hope sega makes a new one

My favorite game of all time.

I played this game in 2nd grade and it changed everything. The music, the art, the entire aesthetic of this game influenced nearly all my tastes going forward. I am still enamored with this game's look. I do my best to return to this game once every couple years & that intro never ceases being cool.

how in god's name has this game not been remastered or ported. i don't get it.

A tour de force of Sega's catalogue, Jet Set Radio Future is an improvement to it's predecessor on all fronts, while still being something that's uniquely it's own. Crank up the volume and wake up the neighbors!

Compared to the original JSR it fixes a lot and adds even more that makes the overall experience feel like a game that is worthy of being played although there are some questionable choices here and there
The music is fantastic

Game rocks when it's not asking you to scale big heights (if you played then you know what areas I'm talking about). Otherwise an upgrade to the original on all fronts. Can't say I like it more than the original though

One of the coolest games you'll ever play.
+ Pseudo-open world with large, interconnected levels that contains tons of platforming
+ Phenomenal multiplayer mode with an unbelievable variety of game modes, even including computer controlled AI if you've no human companions
+ Racing focus which is complemented heavily by the emphasis on platforming over tagging
+ Tagging is retooled from a rhythm minigame in the original to a simple collectathon at base, which can become a Zones game or a close-quarters Shooter with a different mode
+ Amazing OST that covers a wide variety of genres
+ Glorious and unique aesthetic brought to life by unrivaled graphics
+ Fast and fluid gameplay that is simple to grasp yet can be deceivingly complex once you traverse through the later level designs
+ Plenty of exciting tricks and stunts to pose while pulling off death-defying feats
+ Intriguing plot with a simple but gripping over-arching story
+ Challenging but rewarding level design
+ Infinite replayability thanks to its multiple character selection, relatively short campaign, insane amount of post-game content, and its vast amounts of collectibles
One day, I hope to see an HD port for this gem

There's still some jankiness inherent to the time period it was made it, but everything else is a massive improvement on the original game. The one to check out if you have any of the Xboxes or a beefy enough PC to emulate it.

Better than Halo.

Okay, that's a dumb joke, even though I actually believe it. When I bought my neighbor's original Xbox from him around 2006, this was one of the games I was dying to play, along with Butcher Bay and Breakdown. As a whole, this game takes everything I loved about JGR and elevates it. It isn't flawless, don't get me wrong - the controls take some getting used to, and the soundtrack doesn't necessarily reach the highs of the original - but overall, JSRF is the game that JGR should have been.

A work of art that showcases the power and style from SEGA's Smilebit team.
