A game whose legacy is, and will continue to be, defined by its triumphs and failures in equal measure.

I had so much fun playing this game! Some of my favorite gameplay in the series. The story was...alright. Not really a fan of how much of the lore/extra story bits are in tapes that you have to listen to. Overall a solid (haha) game

I wish most of the reviewers of this game would shut up actually!!

my two favorite far cry games are metal gear solid 5 the phantom pain and far cry 2.

Gameplay is so great that the little disappointing story is fine

This game has some real bullshit in it.

Also I kind of love it even despite the bullshit.

One of the most disappointing things to happen in my life so far, only surpassed by the college experience as it is in America.

i have no fucking clue how i'm supposed to rate this game. i liked it but it's not finished. what a weird fucking game.

You can do a big rocket punch on a sheep

didnt finished i was too bored
i remember the level design being pretty bad

The gameplay is really good but the story isn't there, the open world is boring, and the story is clearly unfinished

thanks, Konami

el mejor videojuego de la historia

the best gameplay in a metal gear game, and potentially the best gameplay in a stealth ever made, let down by a clearly unfinished storyline. oh what could've been.

This is an extremely well made, impressive, and fun video game that is clumsily stretched out to 50+ hours of bad content. It also is, supposedly, a Metal Gear Solid game. But you wouldn't know that if it wasn't on the box.

the best gameplay in the series meets the worst everything else in the series

An absolute masterpiece tragically assaulted on all sides by myths of having no story and being incomplete.

As someone who has never played another Metal Gear game, I found myself hooked by the systemic stealth on offer. Infiltrating bases, taking out guards one by one, that stuff is catnip to me. There's also a busy story and boss fights which don't seem bad, but are not why I came to this game. I was more than willing to put up with those interruptions in a very satisfying loop.

Flawed but fun. I don't know if I could ever really call this game 'good'.

I recognize the craft that went into this, but it honestly just isn't for me. It turns out I don't want open world MGS, and I sure as heck don't want Mother Base... I prefer my tight, linear, story driven MGS games.

sei lá eu odeio de verdade muita coisa aqui mas mecanicamente o jogo é das coisas mais divertidas do mundo

o foda é o helicóptero nunca vou perdoar o helicóptero

Amazing gameplay set in a barren open world with a barren story.

Quiero darle mas puntuacion porque tiene uno de los mejores gameplays que hay, pero a la vez me enfada que este incompleto por culpa de la pelea de egos entre Kojima y Konami

It's fun until you realized you spent hours trying to min max the people on your base for no reason other then to watch numbers go up and unlock new weapons that don't really change much except do more damage.

Empty world with terrible and confusing story, gameplay is very good.

My main complaint with this game is that the story line that Kojima Productions was so known for was underwhelming and had high points too spread out or prematurely introduced. With that being said, this is on a technical aspect alone the greatest stealth game ever made. And for me personally at this point in time, it is the greatest stealth game I've played and it may not be topped soon or ever.

A good game but sometimes i got bored

The game is kind of an unfinished mess. The story sucks, the characters are inconsistent, Big Boss is barely a character, shit tons of filler missions, the story especially in chapter 2 is just made up of moments, there is no cohesive plot however im not gonna lie i still thoroughly enjoy this game cos for the first time in a metal gear game none of this shit actually matters cos the gameplay is where its at, phantom pain offers up these massive sandboxes with every imaginable tool at your disposal, you are given so many ways to approach missions. You can impersonate a woman, you can shoot your hand off, you can rescue animals and make a zoo, you can plant C4 on a dudes ass, wait for him to get in a chopper and then blow him up, Theres simply no end to the freedom you are given. A true masterpiece of gameplay design.
