Story is bad. But everyone knows that. Gameplay is amazing. But everyone knows that.

One video essay on YouTube convinced me that this is one of the best games ever made and currently misunderstood. It's truly the Moby Dick of video games.

impossible to give it the full 5/5 because it is literally unfinished but Act 1 is probably the best MGS material we'd gotten since Snake Eater. like, fuck dude.

A complete waste of my time. The missions were cool though and it's the best optimized PC game I've ever played.

Obviously good mechanics, but the moment I was forced to replay older missions on hard mode I dropped the game. Gets a higher rating because the concept of it giving me a Phantom Pain through disliking the game is neat

It's fun if you turn off reflex mode but like, it's not really a MGS game at all
Like why is it open world, why is the plot so nonexistent, why trade in the weapon wheel for this generic 2 weapon at a time call of duty bullshit
it's metal gear solid but buckled to every single modern trend it possibly can and for that, its trash

first impressions :

the only limitations to how you approach your missions is your imagination.
the opening hospital sequence of the game is one of the best game sequences i've ever experienced. i immediately got hooked up but as soon as we came to the desert part, it was apparent that the majority of the game is going to be set around deserts/facilities/snowy/tropical areas, which immediately sounded all the wrong alarms and gave a feeling of having to travel for a couple of minutes through a map to reach the missions and this feeling does not end through out the game.
the map is immensly huge and lacking in activities. except for the outposts, the map is almost empty except for few repetetive side missions. choosing the desert was either a poor choice from the team or else a clever one. the lack of activities and interactions can defend itself because its a desert, an area meant to be isolated.
this feeling only ends when you reach the tropical area of the game where the game starts to look really stunning and fun. i dont remember seeing any animals but outsposts, bases and world exploration became really interesting. it is clearly evident that the team has put a lot of effort into creating this area because each individual area can really be felt apart from one another. just by looking at an area in front of you, you can feel that you are at a different place from where you were an hour ago.
also, the load times were excellent as far as i remember.
i really got to play this game again and finish it before writing a full review.
for now, id say its an okay game with few fun elements.

Probably my second favourite game in the series and my game of the year 2015.

its a good game gameplay wise but as a metal gear an utter disappointment and i think it still would've been if it was finished never has a game disappointed me as much as the phantom pain has

fun game but it's obviously super unfinished.

Damn the story fucking sucks but I do love that this is essentially Breath of the Wild but good.

ai na moral midge ure - the man who sold the world é bOM DEMAIS VSFKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

Aunque no sea igual que los otros metal gear solid. Es uno con los mejores controles que ha tenidos, muchas formas de pasarte las misiones y muchas cosas que mejorar para tener una base bonita y unos soldados fuertes.

I could write a lot about this. I wont, but I could.

It was good! I couldnt stop playing it! I didnt understand it! Some parts were real bullshit, but I liked how many different ways there were to do stuff. Its real high up there on my list I think.

Metal Gear sheds its defining idiosyncrasy in favor of a 15 hour trade show demonstration.

Depressing, but expected.

I just WISH I didn't bought this game for the PS3. That was a HUGE mistake from my side. This game is much MUCH better on PC. I mean, I couldn't even aim correctly with a PS3 controller. But the game itself is amazing. Wish I could have played more if the PS3 gameplay wasn't so shitty.

Standing on the edge of the crater
Like the prophets once said
And the ashes are all cold now
No more bullets and the embers are dead
Whispers in the air tell the tales
Of the brothers gone
Desolation, devastation
What a mess we made, when it all went wrong
Watching from the edge of the circus
For the games to begin
Gladiators draw their swords
Form their ranks for Armageddon
I'm nuclear
I'm wild
I'm breaking up inside
A heart of broken glass
Defiled
Deep inside
The abandoned child
Standing on the edge of the underworld
Looking at the abyss
And I'm hoping for some miracle
To breakout, to escape from all this
Whispers in the air tell the tales

the phantom pain gets alot of crap from people for basically being unfinished. its definitely easy to see some places where things needed to be improved more, but without a doubt in my mind, MGSV might be my favorite stealth game of all time. Besides the incredible amount of ways to stealth bases, you have so many options to go into battle with.

Id recommend watching metal gear playthroughs going into this, or basically disregard a grand majority of story elements lmao and just have fun i guess. this game is not even remotely comprehendable without like 3 games of knowledge before hand(not exaggerating)

Probably one of the most mechanically perfect games I've ever played. Story content and some sequences can be better for certain, but when you're playing this game everything clicks

Phantom Pain is really neat. It has some really, really excellent mechanics. But rather than feeling like a proper send-off to a legendary series, it just starts to feel so half-assed at around the halfway point. Whether the fault of Konami or not, the game is unfinished.

MGSV is the best incomplete game I have ever played. The story isn't finished, it can easily feel like a mess that just jumps from plot point to plot point, it raises more questions than it answer, while, paradoxically, delivering some really great and emotional moments. Gameplay wise, is really fun, it manages to merge an open world with the stealth the MGS franchise is known for, while also expanding on the base building that Peace Walker had.
Sadly, this is the last game of Big Boss story and thanks to Konami's greed and incompetence, it will now go down as a poorly planned conclusion and last hoorah to the MGS series. So Here is To You Snake, Big Boss, Kojima and Konami, this agony is your triumph.

If Konami wasn't shitty and let this game get completed maybe it would've been the king MGS. Even for something so incomplete, I have had so many hours of stupid fun that I don't regret it. Multiplayer was bad.

The last few hours completely botch the story, but the gameplay and open world are pretty good.

I like it well enough. I would probably like it more if it was actually fucking done, though.

kojima misogynist hours, would definitely not recommend this one, even if the actual gameplay is pretty stellar it gets repetitive real quick and it lacks all of the charm of the previous metal gear games alongside having an absolutely barren story. watch a playthru for the quarantine segment and the following cutscene and thats it

mgsv is a really really good game that sets out to some very specific shit that no one seem to get five years ago and i dont think i even understand it fully now but i had fun at least so four stars lmao

I played the game for 25 hours in which 70% was just padding and trying to get to the actual mission so you get too experience some action. So I was about to quit the game because it sucks. Then my friend told me... how I can play... as big boss
SHIRTLESS!!! ;:^() so I played for another 10 hours and finished the game!

So if you are going to play the game, you can from the start of the game set shirtless variants of his outfits. You are welcome B^)

It also have some fun ideas and I like the high-tech cutting-edge environments where they are unsure of the consequences that comes with the inventions. The speculative aspects of what is going to happen is fun. However the game is actually unfinished and the ending is terrible.
