Why the fuck are they talking about ice in a refrigerator?
I hate this game.

Folks who complain about the ending clearly didn't go through all endings.

To say that I "played" this game is kind of an overstatement. Me and a few other friends made decisions and solved puzzles while the friends who owned it (and beaten it) actually played. Somehow out of sheer luck we got the coffin ending first try which boggled our friend's mind. About the game itself the story and characters are all amazing and the puzzle could range from very simple to quite challenging. Over all this game is an amazing and extremely unique experience that not many other games are.

The most GOAT game of them all.
The Zero Escape series needs to be held to in a museum because holy fuck this series is insanely good.

Gameplay wise it's the weakest one in the trilogy, graphics wise it's somehow the best one. It's hard to reccomend this old DS version rather than the rerelease on steam due to the inability to jump to any choice in the timeline, but some elements of the game worked much better on the DS and for that it still deserves a good score.

A very interesting and hoaky game courtesy of Uchikoshi. I enjoyed this game a lot but encountered a few bugs during my play time including one that had me reinstall the game (along with VLR). Definitely has a lot of braindead easy puzzles for most of it with most of the thinking coming from figuring out what hasn't been interacted with yet in the escape room. Thankfully the conveniences added to the most recent editions are very much appreciated and save the hassle of having to redo certain sections, escape rooms included. The character designs are super great but stylistically everything else is either just fine or unmemorable. The voice acting however is super fun mostly because of how nonchalant or over-the-top some of the performances can be at times. A super enjoyable experience especially when you hit the final route, although im worried whenever I hear this is the best in the series.
Junpei a real one though ngl

A masterpiece in flow chart story telling. It will keep you on your toes throughout every path with its intriguing themes and excellent characters.
We love our dorky Jumpy and Kanny

Masterpiece. If you don't agree, then you just don't get it

MASTAHPIECE

dont buy the steam or ps4 remasters just emulate the ds game instead

Someday I will replay this on DS for the full experience of an Uchikoshi banger because it's the best game in the Zero Escape series

a must play for VN fans, puzzle game fans, or just people who want an amazingly batshit but satisfying story

I played through 10 hours of this to get a bad ending, 10/10

Play the DS version. This is a masterpiece I simply have no words for other than, just go and play it.

going into this game blind is very fun. out of sheer luck my first run ended with coffin which totally threw me off and gave me so many questions. the game's story is compelling, characters will talk about stupid shit all the time and for some reason i liked hearing about it, the ds version has a very cool aesthetic with the visuals and music, puzzle rooms are fun to go through, and characters are likeable. good game

The best Zero Escape. Don’t argue with me

A great puzzle game with a fun narrative with some neat twists and well designed characters.

Nintendo DS version is the best version.

999 is a game that keeps you guessing even if you think you know it all. I went into this game knowing one of the most major reveals and I STILL found myself shocked and intrigued at every turn. The puzzles themselves range in quality, some struggling from the conversion from ds to pc, but there are enough good ones to make the experience fun and enjoyable. Fantastic story, fantastic characters, and a fantastic ending.

I don't remember a single thing about this except that it was good.

I must say that I played Ever17 first. It seems to be like a general rule that whichever Uchikoshi game you play first will be the one with the most impact on you.

SPOILERS FOR EVER17
Well, the atmosphere in 999 is definitely more tense from the start and the cast is very good, but I don't really think it was better than Ever17 in any way. I never had a single pacing issue with Ever17, and the lightheartedness of the start only helps to make the endings more powerful and agonizing. Tsugumi ending is making my eyes wet only from remembering it and damn, You's bad end with everybody dying from Tief Blau was so fucking heartwrenching. I have to say, tief blau was one of the best things in Ever17's buildup.

Also, I got warned that Zero Escape reused several concepts from Ever17, somebody even going as far as saying that VLR's twist (which I haven't played yet) is a blatant rip-off from Ever17. But hell, 999 already felt totally recycled with the "connect the paradox" mechanic, so I can't even start to think in what way VLR could be more recycled.

Anyway, I did really enjoy 999 and a lot of it was because of the cast, especially June (love her), though from a first play and chronological point of view, Ever17 feels like it did a lot more merits.

Best entry in the series by FAR. I don't love VNs, but this one is a must play.

Top-notch visual novel with a gripping story and puzzles that feel great to solve. Absolute must-play if you're into VNs or puzzle games in general.

Excellent narrative, interesting puzzles, personable characters, and an amazing ending. Really would love to play the original DS version sometime.

ax ending >>>> the entirety of VLR
