Arkham City came with the promise of surpassing Asylum, and guess what? It succeeded masterfully, this game is a MASTERCLASS! The story begins even more captivating than in the first game, with mind-blowing twists right from the start. If the beginning is frenetic, brace your heart for the ending.

The exploration of Arkham City is very interesting and engaging, with several side quests that utilize even more villains than the first game. You feel good exploring, the game captivates you all the time because every side quest tells extremely creative and fun mini-stories, further expanding the universe of villains. Like IGN says, you really feels like a true detective. The gameplay is extremely fluid, and all of the Batman's gadgets are necessary, none of them are useless. The game improves in EVERY aspect compared to its predecessor.

For those who played Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City is much more than necessary. It's the BEST entry in the entire franchise! And one of the GOAT’s. Truly a Masterpiece!!

I took this game for granted when I was younger. It is the perfect sequel, a game that flawlessly evolves each mechanic and story detail. It is still one of the greatest games of all time.

Generally falls into the same trappings of the sequel, although in a smaller scale so it's actually enjoyable. I might have enjoyed it more if I hadn't started with Arkham Knight, but welp. I guess in 2011 it 'was' one of the best open world games around.

In fact, I think I even missed some of the bloat of the next game. The games urges you on with the main story and I never had too much chance to explore for sidequests without feeling I was straying too much from my objective. Didn't help that I finished the game and didn't even know you could unlock the ability to launch yourself to glide through the city, although the PS4 version optimization is so bad that wasn't something I enjoyed doing very much.

The lack of gadget based exploration, which was abundant in Asylum, was a shame too. A lot of the times it felt like the game was just wasting my time, especially with the batclaw raft parts.

The soundtrack kicks ass, though. Everytime it went while I was crouching around choking bad guys it hyped me through the roof.

Next level in every way! A serious contender for the best superhero video-game of all time and one the great gaming sequels!

Batman: Arkham City has earned it's place in the gaming greats. My personal 2nd Favorite behind Arkham Knight, although this game does have some better aspects than knight. The story here is the best with Batman being trapped in a city full of evey villain he's put away. The joker contracting aids from the large epidemic going around, and needs a cure. The game play is a signicant improvement over knight, overhauling the freeflow combat system the game is known for. The side content is so great it doesn't feel like a chore. The story is amplifyed by the side content, but not necessary. The Catwoman segments were just as good as the Batman ones. I recommend this to anyone who wants to get into the Arkham Games as this is a must play. 9/10

Complex thoughts on this one, while gameplay wise it improves on asylum in every single way, the atmosphere and creativity that made asylum so cool is severely downgraded here. This might be because they wanted a new art direction more inspired by the Nolan movies, and I dont like those movies so makes sense im not as into it.

To add to this, I didnt do any of the side content, imagine its high quality and pushes the game further than the main story, but I just wasnt invested enough to try them. I think the core problem is that I just dont really care about batman, this game bleeds love for batman, and assumes the player has it to, if you dont, I think a lot of the game doesnt hit like it wants to.

Lastly, maybe its in the side-content, but there are not a lot of memorable moments in the game, wonder city and the bossfight with Ras were amazing, and I wish it had more stuff like that. The ending and a lot of other missions felt underwhelming. For as underbaked a lot of asylums gameplay was, memorable moments were NOT missing.

All this being said, a 7/10 is the lowest score I can give, the game is really good, just doesnt do much for me personally. Im sure if I played the side-content (and gave any level of fucks about batman) it wouldhve been an 8 or 9

Best Arkham Game and it’s not even close

Nunca pensei q um desses jogos do Batman iam me surpreender assim.

Eu fico felizao de saber q esse jogo q eu jogava é realmente um jogaço q eu acreditava ser quando menor.

I felt too confined in Arkham Asylum and the pacing didn't feel right. However, Arkham City, fixes these issues. Now you have a whole city to glide around in and really feel like Batman. It's great and the pacing of the story is simply gripping. This earns the must play title.

the more i think about it hugo strange was kind of a fucking idiot
