This is without a shadow of a doubt the definitive way to experience Persona 5. Many of the new changes and additions make the game so much more enjoyable.
However, without going into detail, playing through the story again made me realize that I enjyed the writing much less compared to my playthrough of P5 vanilla.
Furthermore, I simply didn't enjoy the third semester in general, which caused me to put this game on hiatus for 3 whole years before I recently came back and finished it. There are parts that I liked, but I had a hard time enjoying the new story. I'd also like to mention that the new character, Kasumi, feels a bit shoehorned in and would've benefited from joining the party much earlier than she did.
Despite my complaints, I don't think that P5R is a bad game, nor do I regret playing it after I've already experienced P5 vanilla. On the contrary, I truly think it's one of the best JRPGs on the market. I just can't help but feel a bit disappointed by the new story content and how they handled adding Kasumi.

If this was just base persona 5 it would be like a 4.5 star or maybe even a 4 star, but the added content on the royal version is actually so good, the new villain at the end feels very well written, the combat is pretty standard but its pretty fast and the game is not too grindy aswell.
this series has some of the coolest monster design ive seen in alot of games aswell.

Man oh man... where to begin. I'm not a big JRPG guy but this game makes me enjoy the grind SO much. The combat would be pretty annoying if it weren't for the baton pass, which makes the low level encounters a breeze if you know the right weakness types. The story is super engaging and being able to learn more about the side characters through the confidants is super rewarding. Honestly it's the best way to get into the Persona series imo. Would extremely recommend!!!!!!!!!! play this nowwwwwwwwwww

I loved P4G and everything pointed to liking this too. It oozes style and has a banger soundtrack. I liked the combat, story, graphics yet the social link system and the time windows are just a massive turn off for me in games now. I really wasn't enjoying playing this game and I forced myself through more than I should have before finally realising it just was not for me.
