I have a weird relationship with this game. I bought the first when it came out on Wii U nearly 10 YEARS AGO, and since then I will say that yea, it has gotten kind of repetitive. However, the fact that a game like this has this much longevity is ASTOUNDING, and should not negatively impact how perfect of a Mario Kart game this is. I will say that I'm still unimpressed with the battle mode after revisions. I wish Nintendo allowed for more customizability with the battle mode, setting time limits, having tournaments, setting items, almost in the same way Smash Bros does it.

It's so bizarre playing this game and then playing some of the earlier MK games which were still a little slippery and weird. This game controls like a dream and has some spectacular music.

The best racing game.
This game just feels so sanitised compared to its predecessors, like it feels so much more polished in design and appearance but in doing so a lot of the fun is taken out of the gameplay. Definitely the most content rich of recent mario kart's though and the character roster is impressive although definitely quite bloated

I have to say you can tell this is one of the best Mario Kart games because they still haven't really bothered making a sequel. I used to have some complaints about wishing the Deluxe version had more characters and maps but with the 2nd expansion pass that's a non-issue. At this point my only complaint is that this should be max $60 with the DLC but considering it still sells as well as it does that won't happen. Also the online to me was enjoyable, not a technical expert but it felt fine to play online.
Why is this game 60 fucking dollars good lord. Worth it but still jeepers.
