i love this piece of shit, yet am very much aware its not actually that good.

when you sit down to think about it, this old geeser of a game actually really sucks.
- rubberbanding rivals that will actually break the physics of the games to drive better than you (most likely cuz thats how the devs managed to code some kind of challenge into them)you will constantly catch them doing 80 degree turns at 140 kmph.
- the traffic works for every single enemy in this game except for you, they will shove themselves in front of you and actually get out of the rivals way, like i say they wanna give you a challenge without making it fair.
- there is only one road and its the same highway the entire game, you can choose to go through it in reverse.
- if you buy the most expensive car, it will still suck because you gotta tune it up to be even remotelly close to challenge the current rivals unlocked.
- the ending is a card drop to tell you that YOU DID IT YAY.
- unless you tune your car it will suck and the driving will feel god awful, even with a maxed car it still kind of suck

and yet, i love it.
this game sent me down a huge rabbit hole of japanese illegal street racing and a couple of big names that are active to this day, mind you i was never into car, i could say this was the first racing game i ever finished, and honestly ? i think i'm a car gal now.
the game is almost a pokemon racing game, you don't catch rivals but you challenge them, and oh god there are so many, i also beat the number 1 outta nowhere, i got challenged by him and and won then on the 78th rival the game decided that i WON !! YAY but you can still keep going and challenge them all if you want, the car reflections, the history research it put me through, the style, i have many reasons to find this bad, but i feel that despite it all this game still delivers something great for me specifically, even so i don't quite recommend it to people who play recent racing games, unless youre willing to do it the way i did, upon realizing the AI blatantly cheats without remorse, i simply save stated between each rival battle and treated it as my personal little reset buttom, thats when i realized each race is scripted to fuck you over hard, the traffic will try to catch you with the same tricks in the exact same places, so if the AI is a piece of shit, why play fair ?

despite it all, and above it all, what about the vibes ? absolutelly π’Ύπ“‚π“‚π’Άπ’Έπ“Šπ“π’Άπ“‰β„― <3

This is another nostalgic one for me, having played it as a kid with very little appreciation for what it was going for but still enjoying the look of it. That still holds true for me now, I think it's a good looking and stylistically confident game, it just doesn't go too far beyond that. The racing format is a little confusing to me and I feel like I'm missing something most of the time. It also copies Gran Turismo's campaign format pretty closely. Good soundtrack and easy to step in and out of, but nothing too epic here.

i really wanna give this a higher rating, as i adore the aesthetics and music, but the gameplay itself is just so goddamn boring. there is literally only one loop in quest mode with no variation in gameplay whatsoever.

a good concept executed poorly
