Xenoblade is not a saga for everyone and I think you have to have time and desire to play it.

It is an rpg that can be heavy in many aspects, but with an unforgettable story and well carried.

The combat system is something that does not attract attention at first, it is semi-automatic. The automatic attacks are done alone, and you have to place yourself in the correct position to use the skills of the controlled character. In this game, it has the particularity of the elements that you will have to be aware of to know what to attack the enemy with and make combos.

The biggest flaw of this installment would be the gacha they have put in it. Other than that, the combat system seems to me the best of the three in the series, and an unforgettable cast.

I recommend it if you like good stories, it will not leave you indifferent.

It's a testament to how much I enjoyed the music, environments and various elements of the games writing (story, world building and some the characters) that I even bothered to finish this despite chipping away at it for years.

I just found the act of playing it to be repeatedly off putting. Mainly due to the glut of systems that I feel the game does a poor job of explaining to the player or encouraging the use of. That's not even touching on the idea of a gacha system being tied to such a key element of the game's RPG systems and progression.

There's absolutely a lot of interesting systems at play here, particularly in the combat, but the game goes out of it's way to muddy any chance of those system's actually getting a chance to shine. Which is a shame, because I feel like if the UI easier to navigate and more legible and some of the systems were more cleanly explained with stronger onboarding that explained the value of engaging with them, then this would've been an incredible RPG. As it stands though it just feels like a game crumbling under the weight of it's own gameplay ambitions and ideas.

And yet despite all those frustrations, the narrative and elements of the presentation really compelled me to stick with it and finish. There's a lot of really great work done here that makes the game a lot more unique and memorable than it's predecessor. It's just a shame that it felt like the game didn't want me to actually experience that most of the time.

Xenoblade 2 succeeds in areas where the first game failed. The environments are gorgeous and diverse. The world building is much better, as is the general pacing of the story. As far as character's go, the cast here fare exceeds that of the original game, with most everyone being notable or important in some way. This game sells you on its world by introducing land conflicts, factions, politics, resource crises, and a central theme of human rights and what being a Blade means to it. Nia, Zeke, and Poppi are among the best written characters in the series. A lot of people see the surplus of anime tropes combined with the style and write it off, but it does what the previous game does so so much more better. Even the anime tropes have importance when you realize what became of Rex in XC3.

What the heck happened here. Like, i'm genuinely wondering what was going on at Monolith Soft when making this.
They must've been on some horny phase or some s*** because the oversexualization and animefication is genuinely cringeworthy and alienating. Also wtf are these gacha-elements doing in my full-priced game???
This is a one and done game for me and not even the story that becomes actually interesting at the end of the game couldn't save it from me giving it a higher score than 1.5 stars.

It feels a BIT disappointing compared to the other two games in the series, but nonetheless a phenomenal and emotional rollercoaster of a game.

Having gacha elements in a full priced game is wild

When I first started playing Xenoblade 2, I gotta be honest and say that it left a bad taste in my mouth.
After how much Xenoblade 1 did for me, as an imcredible story about a young man trying to change the future, with a tone that fitted the context of the war the characters lived, xenoblade 2 shift in tone left me confused.

"Why does the story has some many more ANIME stereotypes? Why are those designs so bizzarre? Why does the battle voice lines feels louder and much more repetitive?"

I may sound too rude, but feel like I was not the only one to feel that way: tons of people complained about the different selections of questionable designs, the goofier tone and cutscenes that feels put there just to fill the list of "anime moment" (Seriously, cutscenes like the "bed scene" I feel didn't need to be there imo).

And not to mention other questionable design choices of the game: the incredibly slow tutorial that kinda fails as a tutorial, the unnecessarily gacha-like mechanic to obtain new blades, and the fact that your story can be just straight up blocked by a stupid spider web in the middle of the cave that forces you to go back and famr for fire passives or something (Seriously Chamber of Offering, what the heck is your problem????)

But despite all of these weird decisions..... this game is still incredible. I don't know how they do that, but Xenoblade games are ALWAYS able to make you feel so may moments that will melt your heart, no matter how light or silly the tone of the story may be.

The world is still imaginative, full of wonderful set pieces and fascinating to explore. Once you get the hang of it, the combat becomes addictive, as you discover the various blade combinantios and the depths of it all. THe music is always divine, with set pieces that will literally make you cry on multiple occasions, no matter how invested you are in the moment.

And speaking of the story: I actually don't mind it now! Sure it is more light-hearted compared to what the other xenoblade games present, but the general tone and the various party members started to grow on me with time. I don't really like all of the main cast, but I can safely confirm that fellas like Zeke or Morag are my favorite Xenoblade characters.

Overall, I still prefer the tone and assets that Xenoblade 1 presented. But I can assure you that Xenoblade 2, while different in tone, is still an amazing title, able to put you into a world and a story it will stuck with you for years. DON'T FORGET IT

Las crónicas de la xenoespada 2 son los amigos que hicimos en el camino

i cannot fucking stand this shit

Peak, just peak.

Thanks to a random bartender recommending the game to me a long time ago (like 4-5 years ago) I began playing it and man what a solid game it was.

The music is peak, the story is peak, the characters are peak, the areas are peak, the gameplay is peak (besides the need of required skills)

please give this game a try!

God I don't want to even review it. Game sucks, its also like my second favorite game ever. Gameplay is awesome and terrible. I LOVE THE CHARECTERS. Someone save me from this 3.5/5 game being put as 5/5, I cannot help it. Xenoblade 2 is a game I love with all my heart despite it's flaws. Rex went from a mid protag to one of my favorites after only like 2 chapters. Tora sucks most of the time, but he gave us Poppi so it evens out. Zeke, Morag, and Nia are peak. Pyra is awesome and so is Mythra. I wish the voice direction for this game did the voice actors justice. You can feel them trying so hard man. Anyways Malos Jin yaoi yada yada peak villains and best finale to any RPG I have ever experienced.

Check point for the first 10 hours:
- Chapter 2 (just got eaten by the big whale dude after running from purple spaghetti dude).

I find it pretty similar to XC1:DE’s opening this far ngl. The story is a little more engaging and it generally looks a lot better (combat especially) and running around the world is just mad relaxing.

Character design is very hit and miss for me thus far. Characters like Poppi, Nia, Morag, and Jin look incredible, but others like Malos, glasses dude, and especially Rex look pretty bad in comparison.

Unfortunately and surprisingly, the thing I’m most disappointed in this far has been the music. None of the music thus far has hit that hard for me. Ive done the whole “turn it up during dialogue, listen to podcast during gameplay”

Uhhhhh anyways, see ya later

In the cloud sea of terrible dialogue, gross gameplay mechanics, and shitty outfits for most characters, there is a game that is undeniably special and meaningful. The combat is actually really good once you finally click with it, personally it was 20 hours until I finally understood all of the intimate mechanics. It took a lot of reddit, but it is actually super well designed. While the story is basic, it is good enough to keep you playing, especially past chapter 6, once you finally get more information about what you are actually traveling for, it becomes a lot more interesting the further you progress. I love this game to death, it is an important part of the Xenoblade series whichever way you slice it. Hell, even if you only love the OST, the game is valuable even with all of its problems.

ion get the people saying yeah the story and writing is awful but at least the gameplay is good when the gameplay is the equivalent to those videos of old people lined up playing penny slots at the casino. this game literally has nothing going for it besides maybe pyra's massive tatas. TRASH!

This is my favourite game of all time, replaying it helped me reclaim what helped me find my identity back in 2018.
Is this game flawed? Oh hell yeah, it has poor tutorials, a shitty main romance that actively has queer coding it tries to avoid acknowledging in text (COUGH morag and brighid COUGH nia) But despite that, Pyra means everything to me. Seperating her from fandom in my head was the best thing I did because it allowed me to have my own interpretations and enjoy the game MY way without judgement.
This game has my fav combat system in any game, I love the world and exploring and it is such a beautiful experience!!
Its hard to put this game into more words that aren't just gushy, but gosh do I love it, PEAK!!

one of my favourite games of all time. I love it so much

this game is awful. I love it.

Incredible game. This game means so much to me. The story gripped me from beginning to end even with the typical JRPG "slow start". I was in tears at the end, that credit's song ;-;
Characters are lovable and have compelling backstories and convictions. The world of Alrest was a joy to explore and is accompanied by one of the best JRPG soundtracks I've ever listened to. While confusing at the start, this entry has my favorite Xenoblade combat system and I don't see that changing any time soon. So much customization and the oddly satisfying quick time button presses for the specials really made getting those big damage numbers satisfying.
My favorite game of all time. Will forever have a very special place in my heart.

The science fantasy setting that turns out to be hardcore sci-fi is just too cold. Combat is so unique and I didn't mind the gacha nearly as much as people online seem to. The coming of age story becomes to bittersweet when you realise near the end of the game that Rex really is just still a kid. THINK YOU CAN TAKE ME

After the fantastic Xenoblade Chronicles 1, expectations for the second instalment are high. However, they are entirely fulfilled, albeit somewhat differently than initially expected. Everyone should find out for themselves how the game relates to the first instalment! The story is amazing, and the characters are all really likeable, with a compelling background story that makes them even more likeable. The voice acting in English is not bad (especially Malos), but sometimes there are moments where the tone doesn't quite fit or the emotions don't come across well. This is because the voice actors couldn't always see the cutscenes beforehand and had to do it "blindly".

The combat system is better than in XC1 and doesn't get boring; on the contrary, as you get stronger and stronger and new possibilities open up, it becomes more and more fun. The Titans and areas look fantastic, and exploring them is always fun. The OST is one of the best soundtracks in video game history, and I still love listening to it. There are fewer side quests than in XC1, but they are usually longer. Almost all blade quests are really good as you learn more about the blades, and they tell an interesting story. However, getting most of the blades through a gacha mechanic is annoying, as you must invest a lot of time and be lucky to get all the blades.

Overall, the game has some minor criticisms, but these are overshadowed by the positive aspects. I can only recommend it to everyone!

Xenoblade 2's combat makes leaps over the first game's by removing the level gap limit and improving chain attacks. This is the end of the good things I have to say about Xenoblade 2.
To address the elephant-sized breasts in the room, Xenoblade 2 is heavily marred by its tone. The story? Filled to the brim with ecchi humor where it really just isn't appropriate or funny (the infamous Mythra bed scene being a top offender). The gameplay? Dictated by a system that might as well have come straight out of a gacha game so that you can have any sort of competent team for chain attacks. The art direction? I don't even care about visuals that much but god damn, can we please put more effort in than bouncing breastily? My favorite blade design was the book girl cause she was made of books. If we're going to drive home the connection between humans and blades as different species, it would be awesome if half the blades weren't just essentially humans.
With that out of the way, the rest of the game:
Xenoblade 2's story sucks, there's no other way to put it. Rex's goal gets sidelined time and time again for other plot threads that seem to take us in an infinitely recurring circle around the central plot. Xenoblade 1 started you off with a simple goal and expanded it as the story progressed. Xenoblade 2 starts you off with a vague goal (go to Elysium because it's probably good or something maybe) and doesn't manage to meaningfully expand on it for DOZENS of hours, and by the time it does, what is it that you even care about in the world?
This isn't to say the story doesn't have its bright spots, Zeke singlehandedly carries the game's funny bone, but these moments are few and far between.
In the end, you come to realize at some point that the game doesn't have a main villain, until you remember that it DOES, he just sucks dick because his motivations are AWFUL, and that his glorified sidekick would've made for a better final boss.
And on the gameplay, outside of the chain attack and level gap, there is much to be desired. I really don't have time to get into all the micromanaging and tedium that comes with the gameplay both in and out of combat, so I'll just summarize it as needing stutter-stepping and art-recharge meals to be any fun. I wouldn't even have gone out of my way to fight special monsters in the game had I not gotten Zenobia as a blade, who's affinity chart is progressed exclusively by fighting strong monsters, a luxury I desperately wish I could say about some of the other blades I was unfortunate enough to get.

Geez this game is amazing. As my first game i played in the xenoblade series and also the first "anime" styled game i seriously fell in love with it. i love its characters, its themes and its music. this game is a serious masterpiece. Its expansion 'Torna' is also phenomenal. Such a great experience that ill remember forever

While it has the second best gameplay in the series the tone, quality of voice acting, story and characters rubber band between soaring heights and crashing lows so fast you could get an insurance payout. It will make you cry though.

monolith soft.....i kneel....

fuck you dunkey, this is one of the best games i've ever played
