Procurando games de anime que ainda não tinha jogado, cheguei até este e foi uma grande surpresa, uma pérola perdida no GameCube.
Primeiro vamos começar com a História, bom...o modo história é bem fraco na parte de fazer você ficar preso, apenas uma voz narrando enquanto mostra uma frame da cena, o game vai do começo do exame chuunin até a luta do vale do fim somente.
Agora as duas partes que mais me pegaram no game, são elas sua gameplay excelente e seus gráficos bem feitos.
O estilo padrão no modo de game porém bem mais fluido e nesse você realmente sente que está conseguindo jogar, combos variados e variações de poder.
E sendo sincero acho que seria um dos games mais bonito do GameCube, cada detalhe foi feito com carinho e você pode parar um tempinho para reparar, não só nos personagens, como também na fase e suas trilhas de fundo que apesar de simples conseguem ser excelente na sua proposta.
Recomendo e na minha opinião ele fica somente atrás do Naruto ultimate ninja storm 4 e Naruto ultimate ninja 3 com algum esforço e outros detalhes.

Ruined the original tone and feel has nothing I like about OG. It is now an action comedy beatemup.

THIS IS THE MOST DISSAPOINTED I'VE EVER BEEN WITH A GAME!!! TAKE EVERYTHING GOOD ABOUT THE ORIGINAL AND SAY SCREW IT!!!! HERE'S SOME BLACK BOOTY HOLE INK MONSTERS, A OVERCOMPLICATED COMBAT SYSTEM, AND BEYOND BORING LEVEL DESIGN!!! OH AND THE STORY, ANCIENT ALIENS MANNNNN!!! SCREW THIS GAME, IT'S HONESTLY THAT BAD. I tried. I really did. I got to the underwater area and realized I was not having fun whatsoever.
Usually with a game this old I can look at it and try to say "I'm sure this game was good when it came out, so I'll just power through it using that kind of POV..." but there's just so much that turns me off of Breath of Fire. I can assuredly say this game would have sucked ass to me had I played it as a young child.
Spritework and music were good I guess!

About what I'd expect from first entry in a JRPG series. Bog standard story, nothing too exciting going on. Did use a patch to improve the translation and deal with the notoriously high encounter rate in the game. It does have some features that are way ahead of what you'd expect in the genre for the time such as swapping party members in battle and not losing progress on death. Those were pleasant surprises. Also a lot of the OST is from the Mega Man 3 guy which is a plus.
It's like Saint's Row decided to come back as a Division parody with DC characters and an overambitious dream to have this games as a service last for years when in reality the servers will probably sunset within a year of release.
It is better than what most expected, but that doesn't mean it's good.
