I really enjoyed my time with 1.0 aka the base game of DQX.

Gameplay wise, it feels like an improvement on everything DQ9 started, the vocations having their individual skill point paths that have a path with passives if you choose to go down that way. Adding the online element makes recruiting people actually viable, instead of leveling 3 people to help you. Playing with friends was fun although I didn't do it often.

The story was better than I expected, with the overarching plot not rearing its head much, but the individual stories of each race/continent being the focus. They were good at worst, and really great at best. Much better sidequests than DQ9 as well, I clocked in around 60 sidequests done at completion in this 1.0 base game.

Music was a disappointment, lot of older songs esp. from DQ8, and the few new songs didn't wow me except for maybe the cave one.

The MMO part of the game is what is hit or miss for me. I don't mind buying the game and a sub fee, but the cash shop for gems is kind of ridiculous. The zoomstone mechanic also killed some fun for me. Every other DQ before this you can just Zoom to whatever city you want to. Why an MMO DQ doesn't want to make this easy I'll never know. Some areas are just tedious walking, especially cities that are sprawling. Why there weren't more warp spots or mount usage in cities I'll never know.

Overall I had a really good time and plan to continue and finish the 5 expansions.
