Everyone is invited to play this game, long term final fantasy fans to come and shit on on how much fun this game is, and players who never liked the franchise to come and experience one of the most complete and epic experiences there is until present day.
gameplay is not your typical turn based or heavily slow and tactical rpg combat, sure, but that doesn't mean that this action driven and precise button dependent combat isn't as fun or as deep. Specially if you wanna go for combos and style points that simple casts and mash won't let you do. In the end isn't it the same essence as a tactical combat? the outcome maybe a bit different, but you can as deep as you can in old FFs.
Visually the game is a 10/10 there is no point to be added, just play it, grounded scenes and eikon battles both incredibly well displayed, even better than 90% of fantasy movies.
Lore-wise this game is a masterpiece. I'm still shocked about how they managed to create such a vast lore, story, characters, locations, and years of events for just a single game instead of a typical fantasy franchise. That was amazing and I was completly invested and in love not only with the game of throne-ish lore parte but also with the more to the end typical fight for the world escalation part. Both are very well written. Specially when things escalate, they actually give purpose and a message to what all this journey means. Also huge shoutout for the mechanic to show info about the lore on screen IN REAL TIME that they develop so you can quickly pause a cutscene and immediatly get information about the character, location, concept, event, you name, that they are refering to.
Side quests are boring af in the first half but they are ALL worth doing because they all give closure and background to dozens of side characters that matter. Every closure side quest is great and is worth the boring ones before.
The only half star missing goes for the lack of good animation and cranky moves on every side content that is not a pre rendered cutscene/dialogue between characters. Some dialogue is pretty important and has good VA but whenever they did not do a pre rendered cutscene for that side content everything seems stiff and characters lose liveliness which cuts a bit of all the visually stunning rest of the game
