It's very easy to tell why this started the Metroidvania subgenre

This sure is another pokemon game

Just the original with more content, more characters, more story, new mechanics, more amazing music and fresh coat of paint.

The gold standard for team shooters

Trying to 100% this game is a pain I wouldn't inflict on my worst enemy

When it comes to the Smash series, I started very late into Smash 4s lifespan on my 3DS so not the best introduction to the series. Ultimate was my proper introduction to Smash and is the game I have the most hours on. The Good: For a switch game, the visuals are great, and the overall style works exceptionally well. The controls feel very natural and responsive (Offline), and there is a lot of diversity when it comes to the stages and playstyles of all the characters. Now, when it comes to Ultimates shortcomings, there is, unfortunately, a lot. This game's biggest downfall is the shitty online that feels like it's powered by a hamster wheel; some games can feel like a PowerPoint presentation if your opponent has a bad connection. Next is the online buffer, which makes the very responsive and fast gameplay feel like turn-based combat as you input a move and wait for the game to interpret your input. These two things together make online play extremely unfun and, at times, unplayable. So overall, this is an amazing game to play casually with friends or even competitive offline. Never mind, I forgot they added Min-min this game sucks 0/10.
