The addition of well-integrated multiplayer and area based fighting is an interesting re-imagining of the roguelike formula. As of this review, there are four classes available. The warrior is relatively straight forward as a generic but useful sword and board class. The rogue adds some helpful AoE effects. The mage and the tinkerer are where this game sets it classes apart. The mage has a number of useful support cards that would only work given the multiplayer aspects of this game. Additionally, the support aspect of being a mage still contains intrigue and interesting choices. The tinkerer plays with a unique currency: screws and cores. These two things allow him to create contraptions that can be a mix of offensive, defensive, and support. I think the only reason I did not get into this game more is because I couldn't get friends to play it with me. The game is much better multiplayer as long as you have people at a similar skill level to you. While you can play it single player, it is a lot more micro-managing. Playing with random people online is unreliable. I would probably rate this game higher if I could have friends to reliably play with, which in some ways is not this game's fault and in other ways is an intrinsic part of the game.

The big twist this game adds to the genre is you have a strong amount of control over the enemy actions. Each round of a fight rolls both the enemy's dice and your dice. You get to decide the order of all dice play, with the only requirement that the enemy must use all the dice that they can. Very early into the game, you unlock the ability to reroll, which effects all dice. Though your chimera (monsters you fight with) can be flimsy, the ability to direct enemy actions allows for some interesting choices in the game. Additionally, the synergies the chimera can have present an interesting opportunity for team building. I think the devs need to expand upon the chimera synergies some, with some chimera being noticeably stronger than others. Otherwise, the game was a delight and I look forward to seeing what else they do with it.

I enjoyed this game well enough. I played Vampire Survivors and this game does a good job of expanding upon the genre. The addition of mining to dodge enemies creates and interesting twist. The maps with different environmental features also adds intrigue. The auto-shooter genre makes for a good 30 minute filler for me, especially because I can play it on my Steam Deck on the couch. For now, I think I will pick this one up now and then while I wait for the full release.
