Being a lover of Slay the Spire, I wanted to check this one out. It develops some ideas in the deck builder genre, but it needs some more polish. The bad: the game feels unfinished. The card and enemy attack numbers need some more balance and some of the controls are needlessly restrictive (I was playing on Steam Deck). Sometimes when I lost, it didn't feel like it was because I made a misplay but because the numbers felt off.
The good: the implementation of fighting zones is really interesting. Some effects depend on whether the enemy is in your zone or the opposite zone. The zones allow for a level of enemy manipulation that proves engaging.
The combination of main character and helper is interesting, allowing for some fun builds. I have ambivalent feelings about all characters in the same faction having the same cards, but the side characters and intrinsic abilities help to make the different play style choices more distinct. I think there is some room to polish in making the main characters even more distinct, especially with the virus faction.
On the whole, I like this game but I want to see where it goes in the future.
