ew don't start with the first one, you can't deflect garbage in that one

play pp tetris or tsu, it might change your mind

imma be honest i was just using this as indicative of the whole series, ive played pp tetris and i still dont get it

did you play with it with a friend? Maybe playing against CPU doesnt do it for you, but there's nothing more fun than having a back and forward of sending garbage to each other and demolishing your friend with a barrage of puyos impossible to destory before hitting the top. Like Jax said, Puyo 2 introduces the chance to deflect the puyos before they even fall, and that alone vastly improves the series. But you have played pp tetris, so I dunno what else to tell ya. It's a fun comp puzzle game that rewards big brains.

nah trust me ive played with other people, i still dont get the appeal of basically any puzzle game like this that isnt panel de pon

panel de pon seems pretty similar to puyo puyo to me, but oh well

puyo gets way more fun when you've improved enough to do some higher-level play imo (throwing out 5+ chains and keeping tabs on your opponent's board). when i first started i was too bad to really get it, but it took me like a literal 50-100 hours to start seeing what was so good about it ("BAYOEN BAYOEN BAYOEN BAYOEN")

imo game just has a ridiculous skill floor outside of having dumb fun with friends. like if you've ever played a game against someone who regularly plays, you'll see them just soft drop every piece and obliterate you with a massive chain. it is similar to tetris in that anyone who regularly plays that online is also probably ridiculous at the game, but i think tetris is still very fun when you dont know what youre doing - cant say the same for puyo personally speaking

unfortunately knowing what youre doing in puyo can require literal study or a bunch of gameplay. it was not easy for me to get into

I just like watching puyos pop.

I just think witch is cute this game is completely impossible

Playing puyo for the cute characters is always morally correct

it's the high skill ceiling and the satisfaction of climbing up. the visual/sound design makes everything feel flashy and rewarding, but the real prize is learning to totally annihilate opponents before they can even react

panel de pon is very similar besides being match-3 instead of match-4. so i don't get how that one sways you (unless your problem with pp is its complexity)
