Persona 3 is one of the few JRPGS I have played multiple times from start to finish and has been my favorite Persona entry in the franchise. The game, however, has always been burdened with the automatic party issue on FES and if you wanted to control your party members, you'd have to play a completely trimmed down version of P3 in P3P. While I was completely fine with the changes and downgrades made for P3 to fit in on the PSP, a ton of people were not and I believe this remake was definitely deserved. It's Persona 3 beat by beat, but with a ton of great quality of life changes. I'm glad that we have a ton of special interactions with the cast members who don't have a social link as well as the Strega members and Ryoji. It was definitely nice to see more sides to these characters and it was really nice to see Strega get fleshed out far more than their iterations in FES and P3P. I do love the gameplay changes included, the combat flows much faster and it shows how well the P5 UI and combat flow works in other JRPGs. That said, I'm mixed about theurgies, it certainly adds more depth and flair to combat but it can make the game feel a ton easier. However, the introduction of theurgies and characteristics give each character an even more playing field. (I still had Akihiko, Aigis in my party though, the only difference now is I had Yukari as my healer instead of Ken. They made Yukari bonkers in this game.) The inclusion of the giant clock also made it much easier for the benched characters to catch up with your party if you ever desired to use them. Changing the Monad floor to Monad doors was also a great welcomed change as well and made Monad feel more of a challenge than an "ultra hard floor". Tartarus for some reason felt even more of a slog since the floors are larger in scale alongside the removal of splitting the party up. It took me months to beat P3 for this reason since I had times where it felt like such a slog I ended up taking frequent breaks. The voice talent for the JP is still the same, but the English version has a new dub cast and from what I've heard they've killed it alongside nice cameos from the previous cast. P3R is a remake of a very solid game and one of my most favorite JRPGs of all time. I think everyone should give it a shot at least once, even if you never played a Persona game before or don't play JRPGs often.
