Change of Perspective: Suddenly First-Person/Behind the Back
aka, "Why Are We In a Dungeon?"
An odd niche you primarily saw during the 8-Bit era: a game that isn't a dungeon crawler and/or isn't normally in first-person that at some point randomly features a dungeon crawler-esque interface and/or a first-person/behind the back camera shift. This is most likely heavily inspired by The Portopia Serial Murder Case, which (due to Yuji Horii's love of Wizardry) featured a first-person maze section.
Doesn't include games where you can manually shift to a first-person perspective or where you do so while in a vent or something. The first-person gameplay needs to be its own dedicated section, almost separate from the main game. I'm also primarily looking at retro games, but might include some more modern examples if they feel like they're of a similar approach.
