Trying to revive the origin of how MOBAs were born, everyone jumped on the train of taking a mod and making it a full game.
Problem is this mod was just bad, and they monetized (and made numbers for investors) really hard from it.
Autochess (the original game) is the first step towards the RNG based indiegame landscape we have right now. They just decided to dial up the bad side of roguelikes and see what happens. The experiment was way too succesful and now we have all kinds of stuff that are -just- RNG with barely a game.
It would've been all fun and giggles but people started making big money out of it, and now we're condemned to see every year an ever growing passive gameplay kind of deal that makes you feel like you're building towards something or making some kind of smart move, when in reality you're just reading a screen with numbers going in the most bland and lacking of depth way ever, just pressing a button hoping for the thing for your current build to pop up and exist. And guess what, that last sentence is just how a roulette works, and guess what, that's a mechanism demonstrated to generate addiction.
Autochess was just some dude who made a mistake, Riot decided to use that mistake and popularize it to a degree that makes me sick, just as anything they've published until now that isn't the netflix series.

This was the babystep towards "just random" as the mechanic for a videogame.
It's too much RNG based, above and beyond most stuff that was out there at the era that isn't just pure classic card and dice games.
I would rather rate the Dota mod, but this is the most precise place to do so.

Updated review: Firstly, this is probably the best barebones game about concept of deckbuilding and the concept of the RNG that is ingrained in the roots of any deck building based game. This is a game first and foremost about what "draw" means as a mechanic and what can you do with it given what you have on the table. On a void like that, this is a masterpiece, extending the most basic concept of any deck-based game on existence to the highes possible degree, with the simplest mechanics ever thought and the most newbie-friendly.
That being said: If the intention of something is not to generate gambling addicts it doesn't mean it isn't going to generate more gambling addicts.
After knowing that vapers were originally designed to make people quit smoking, and instead it made the peak growth of the nicotine industry in the past 20 years, I'm just going to condemn the product without the intention of the creator, as the original creator probably wouldn't have wanted that to happen ever.
This can be a perfect deckbuilding game, yes, but the choice of presentation -is- the thing that made it pop out really hard, and the biggest issue is that there was already a ton of myth around "counting cards" and poker and "matematicians banned from casinos", and a game about how to manipulate RNG, which gives you a lot of tools, and let numbers go insanely high, it's a dangerous tool to make someone on the more conscious or less conscious side to let in a relationship of "i'm smarter than the cards and the luck" and the poker cards.
And believe me, look around on itchio and there's probably a ton of games equally good in terms of deckbuilding, with aesthetics more related to less harmful stuff, and yet those didn't pop out at all. I've played like 4 or 5 similar to this one before joining this site and they were aesthetically based on tarot cards or something more akin to what Inscryption goes for.

That being said: This game was a mistake towards humanity, just as vapers, just as anything that resembles gambling in an era and age in which gambling can AND will become a severe problem for anyone who gets caught on it.

Older review: I know the dev didn't know poker and well almost anything related to this.
Anyways yesterday I just heard some college students go "balatro is a great game yeah indeed" to then proceed "we should play real poker again, but this time we should bet at least 5 bucks per round, otherwise nobody takes it seriously" and they were pretty much into it.
I'm not the kind of dude who thinks that violent games make people violent (studies have already debunked this), but gambling inspired games MAYBE are making more people gamblers (or more prone to gamble)(studies are inconclusive about this one but quite a bit are leaning more towards, indeed, gambling).

The game is kind of fun I guess, I just dropped it after the demo run, didn't feel any more profound than Vampire Survivros in terms of just being numbers growing just for the sake of it with some graphics that help the brain go "rat wants to press button again".

I wish this game just stood on closed alpha for it's entire lifetime.
The best era was there, both in terms of community, toxicity (which is super hard to regulate in mobas) and actual acceptable decisions in terms of gameplay. They kept making the worst changes ever and it became really really boring.

People were really going OOOH OOOH OOOH and I'm like bro this is just a really sad and disfunctional attempt of a moba with only the bad side of a moba but with a better art direction than most mobas.

Bugged mess, annoying game, really boring compared to other entries in the saga.

It's quite a bit boring honestly.

This is one of the most well known flash games out there and it has a reason to be.

Please make a game for once.
Good movie tho.

2000

I don't know what's going on with free games for children and gambling.
No wait, it's pretty obvious.

there are 2 copies of this game in this website and I don't understand why
My dudes how the fuck can people say this is just a 2.8, this shit is marvelous

there are 2 copies of this game on this website and both are rated like ass
My dudes this is peak performance and NB representation

It's way less good than the first game but the surrealism is over the top.

I have dropped this game so many times.
I don't like the controls, the music is also really bad, as in I should play this with some background music probably cuz I can't remember a singular track and yet I remember getting tired of some.
The aesthetic choices are wonderful and never seen in any other game, but the color choices some times hurt to the eye.
Some puzzles are more like a chore, and as a collectaton is really really one of the most obnoxious out there, mostly probably due to the bland controls.
And the sound effects kinda suck a lot tbh.
BUT
The game is a wonder in themes, tone, characters and everything that isn't listed here. I'm just really REALLY too much into movement controls in this kind of games and in sound in any game, so that makes this really a burden on me to play this.

This is just a better version of bubble bubble that is uglier too.
