An absolutely polished, smooth and well-crafted metroidvania - The Lost Crown is an invigorating rejuvenation of the Prince of Persia franchise.

The art style is appealing and vibrant, the combat is fluid and snappy, the abilities and powers you all earn along the way are all equally rewarding. It's a fantastic infusion of the 2.5D action - adventure genre mixed with metroidvania elements; the map design is cleverly constructed and just large enough to not outstay its welcome, and being able to mark spots that you want to come back to is a genius addition.

Some of the jumping puzzles were needlessly finicky, and the story relies on too many tropes regarding a magical other omnipotently controlling the balance of Persia, but otherwise Sargon is a well realized character in a world full of rich texture, likable characters, and detailed, varied terrain.

An absolute blast from start to finish, this is one of the most fun side-scrolling games , and one of the better Ubisoft games period. I just wish it had a few more fast-travel locations.

The greatest crowning achievement of this Prince of Persia though - it runs at a stable 60fps with minimal lag, consistent resolution, and only minor bugs.

Definitely worth your time, even for $80.
