@Emiiru for me it was the Mega Man Zero series, albeit it’s much more simplistic. Nowadays there’s kind of an oversaturation of pixel art (though that’s getting better over time) but the ones with a lot of heart still stand out.

Feint cancels and break moves are among the coolest and most creative fighting game mechanics ever. Sorta unusual roster aside, this is a banger fighting game with some of the best presentation from the pixel era. Let’s fucking go Terry Bogard
