People told me to skip this one and I see what they mean but I also think they’re cowards. The stuff with the orphanage can really drag the game out (sucks cause this is one of the shorter ones) and way too many enemies sit there and block and force you to grab and only grab, but the story is emotionally charged (Rikiya my beloved) and I do prefer the combat compared to 6 and Kiwami 2. Okinawa’s also kind of a vibe. It’s neat!

The Orphanage does drag on a bit too long for sure but I also think the story wouldnt be nearly as impactful without it. Okinawa is prime vibe.

Regarding the orphanage, apparently most of that was supposed to just be side content at one point, but Nagoshi demanded they make them main story in order to communicate how much Kiryu cares for the kids through gameplay. In other terms they actively took the risk of messing up the pacing in order to help strengthen the narrative bond between Kiryu and the kids which, even as someone who doesn't enjoy those segments of the game, I can fully respect as a decision, with that willingness to take risks being why I love this series, as well as RGG Studios as a developer.
