sonic origins developers take NOTES

it's kinda like
yeah you see they put the
and then they also added in the
not to mention the
at the same time it also manages to
overall
boy what the hell boy

this is one of those games that is a really really cool idea on paper but executed badly
it's not because "oH sHaDoW iS eDgeLoRd GuNnY hAhAh", the level designs are simply not cut out for Shadow's physics, the game can lag immensely (guess that's just a PS2 thing), the alignment system is also really cool, but it gets annoying when you meet a hero or dark character and it seemlessly switches level objectives without you realising
that's another thing I find weird about this game, the alignment objectives are fucking wack
Most Hero objectives are just "oh find this key or flip this switch and you're good haha", but with the Dark objectives, it's tedious shit like "go back into the level and kill every. single. enemy." or "oh haha flip this switch and flip this other one and this other one" it might just be me but for a sonic game it's annoying
granted, the guns are fun to use and control, the cutscenes in this game are pretty good (bar the weird voice lines and excessive use of the phrase "disgusting black creatures")
and the 2-player battle mode is some good fun
overall it's not the worst thing ever, but it's not that good either

meow
this game is like ace attorney but 10 times better its insane
these characters are filled to the brim with charm, every one of their interactions never feels wasted or there for the sake of padding out the game
also the artstyle is great for this game, very animated and it fits perfectly for a game like this
the puzzle solving is alright, most of them are fine but some feel too easy or too ridiculous to solve
or maybe im just dumb idk
however i feel like this is one of the games that just works perfectly with the touch screen, moving around and tapping shit to interact with the enviroment always feels satisfying
the whole mystery in this game is absolutely amazing as well, the twists are slightly foreshadowed but when they are revealed, the foreshadows and the actual twists themselves are always mindblowing
especially the lamp one at the end, i never saw it coming
this is definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of detective/puzzle solving games in general, and is defo one of the best games to ever hit the DS

i can't imagine playing this game in an arcade and having to use a ball to move sonic that sounds terrifying
