@RedBackLoggd, I just had a minor itch for minigolf, and this title seemed like a good enough way to scratch it. It had been sitting on my backlog for some time. With a sub 2-hour estimate on HowLongToBeat, it served its purpose well enough as a plane game that I wouldn't feel obligated to pick up again if I didn't want to.

As for Hot Shots, I'm extremely nostalgic for it, so my judgement may be clouded. I really enjoyed it as a multiplayer arcade golf sim, though. Not mechanically complex or realistic in any way, but it did help introduce me to concepts like backspin and draw shots for more precise placement.

Sounds like it's got some issues, but as no stranger to visual novels, I think I may still wind up giving this one a shot. I think I got it for $1 in a Fanatical bundle, so not much to lose. Excited to hear that it deviates a bit from the book; I've already read it, so I was a little worried that it would just seem like a rehash.

@RedBackLoggd; I've dabbled a little in both, but haven't held a club in about a decade or so. I always enjoyed the social (and social drinking) aspect of it.

As for video games, I do play golf titles from time to time, but not as an avid fan or anything. I did play a disgusting amount of Hot Shots Golf on the PS1 as a kid, though.
