Hands down my favorite video game of all time and the only game that I gladly got every achievement for. I was surprised that it took me as long as it did to get into the souls series. Bloodborne was the first souls game that I played back in 2018 I believe. However, I never got too far in it due to the depressing atmosphere that I was all-too unprepared for. I am very grateful that I decided to wait and give Dark Souls a jab first.
There are not enough words that I can write that can explain my love for this game. It is the epitome of "showing without telling" -- where the developers gave the player enough trust to figure things out on their own, so that they could focus on crafting a tragic world to explore. The internet loves to paint Dark Souls as this absurdly difficult and overly-dense game. I could not disagree anymore, though. While there certainly are immense challenges, and the story and lore of the world are "hidden" -- it is unassuming in it's pursuit. Everything here is in it's right place for you to discover instead of the developers placing it in your lap.
