Upgrades behind upgrades behind upgrades. This game feels structured like a mobile game, except it just asks for you time and not your money; and since they probably wanted to make a "infinite" rogue lite, yeah sure. I just find the gamefeel just slightly not good enough for how fast the game can be. Yeah, mainly just talking about getting filtered by elysium duo boss. Whatever, its fine, but for sure least favourite Supergiant

"...for how fast the game can be."

thank for mentioning that cuz this game fucked up my hands so badly back when it first came out, and it wasn't even worth it!

So rouge lite=structured like a mobile game? What's wrong with upgrades? Finding the combinations of them, your weapon, and the other passives that fit your playstyle is a pretty deep system. Not to mention you get to look at Jen Zee's pretty art every time you consort with the various deities.

What about the the characters? The game puts a lot of emphasis on interacting with them and their stories, I did a ton of runs and was still getting unique dialogue. Hades is by no means one of my faves, but likening it to a mobile game feels a bit unserious. And if you had trouble with Theseus and the Minotaur, you probably just didn't find the right combo for your playstyle yet. Once I found my go-to abilities and such I went from hitting a hard wall to being able to sometimes melt them in under a minute.

@Hebi I mean it is how mobile games are structured (from my experience), and I think it works well for it, but I don't have that particular drive to keep playing. Mobile gaming has had such a huge impact on gaming and non mobile games are gonna take the cool stuff from them if they can. Hades has these same things I think of when I look at a mobile game for a little bit (multiple currencies, small upgrades, and ive seen a couple different mobile games just have decorating rooms as a "core mechanic"). Maybe its the other way around and mobile games took all these mechanics from older games (probably idk), but point is Im saying its like a mobile game in a completely neutral manner because I don't think it's a detriment to the game really (cause its what the game wants to be).

The art is nice, the characters are good probably, I don't doubt Supergiant in that department.
