Give me a Video Game Soundtrack and I'll Give You My Thoughts on It

I'm not a music expert or anything so my opinions on the soundtracks are certainly not gonna be the most in depth out there, but I'll try to give my thoughts on them in a way that doesn't feel disjointed and like I'm just blabbering a bunch of nonsense.

Also I always try to put the original list's link here whenever I join a trend but I don't know who started it this time, so if you know then please comment here, it would be neat.

You can recommend me any game but I would prefer games that I marked as played.

Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VII
I made a whole review on how I think this game has the best beginning to any video game ever but weirdly enough I didn't mention the main thing that made fall in love with this game from the very beginning: the music. The first hour of this game is excellent for numerous reasons but the one that stuck with me the most — and that I'll never forget — is how when I first played Final Fantasy VII, in only its first hour this game made me go through a range of emotions I had never experienced in a game before. And I'm 100% sure it was experiencing the soundtrack for the first time that made it clear that I was playing something special and I just hold this OST very close to my heart purely from that feeling I got the day I first played the game. I mean damn, the game just starts and then BOOM some of the most emotional and beautiful songs I've ever heard in a video game. And this soundtrack maintains itself flawless until the very end of the game. Just the way it sounds, the instrumentation, it feels perfect for this game and I couldn't imagine it sounding different. It's iconic and a big part of this game's identity. It encapsulates perfectly what this game is all about and I'm pretty sure you could tell what kind of experience Final Fantasy VII is even if you've never played the game and just listened to the soundtrack on its own — an exciting and epic adventure that is oftentimes lighthearted and funny but one that covers layers and layers of melancholy and that isn't afraid of getting dark (and even fucked up to a certain extent), subverting your expectations and tugging at your heartstrings — and I think very few other soundtracks and scores accomplish this as beautifully as this one. Uematsu truly is a genius.

Kirby's Dream Land

Feels like the wackiest out of all Kirby soundtracks and I like that about it.

Sonic Adventure 2
Sonic Adventure 2
Weirdly enough this soundtrack didn't stand out to me that much when I played the game? Not to say it's bad, it has a lot of bangers like Escape from the City and Live and Learn that are just quintessential Sonic songs, but a lot of the purely instrumental songs just kinda blended together when I played and never felt as memorable as they should. Most of them felt like "yeah this is Sonic music" but I haven't thought about them since I finished their respective levels in the game. It's certainly a really great soundtrack, don't get me wrong, a lot of is it truly iconic and it always sounds amazing, but I guess it just didn't click with me as much as most other Sonic soundtracks. Maybe I need to play the game again.

Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes
Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes
I haven't played this game but heyyyy this OST sounds nice. Based on the music alone, this game seems like an exciting and very anime-y journey, heavy late 80s/early 90s anime vibes here. I liked the prologue song the most, it sounds like it came straight out of Castle in the Sky and it's beautiful (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkJ4GP3HsNU&list=PLzFTGYa_evXgnxNqitkP86ZIJWjQOwZbD&index=1). Should I play this game?

Songs for a Hero
Songs for a Hero
I think the melodies here are fairly standard fantasy adventure music, but for being soundtrack to a game that supposedly syncs the lyrics to the player's actions, it's really good and does its job well. And it's just fun to listen to. A good job by the Castro Brothers.

I feel like I need to do a whole lecture on South America Memes to talk about this game, lmfao.

It's whatever, idk. It occasionally implements elements from musical styles popular here in Brazil in either cool ways or ways that try to capture the essence of the Brazilian meme culture established by South America Memes (that nowadays has been forgotten and is seen as terrible, cringey and unfunny) that inspired this game in the first place. It works for the game, but it's not my thing.
