I have 100% completed this game at least six times. The reason being is that this game is a brilliant masterpiece. Sure, this might be one of the shorter zelda experiences with only four dungeons and one of the smaller overworlds in the series history. However, its what they manage to put in these areas and the level of detail that pushes this game from good to masterpiece territory. Lets explore what made Majora's Mask so excellent.

The first reason is a major and slightly controversial reason as its the main mechanic of Majora's Mask with that mechanic being the three days system. The reason this mechanic was so controversial was because it now implemented a time limit in a series that makes player take their time and be methodical. Players felt that the three day system would force them to rush through dungeons and not interact with the world in a meaningful way. However, its is because of this system that Majora takes advantage of to deliver some of the most impactful and emotional moments in the entire series. For the best example of this, lets examine the side quest of Majora and see how they put the mechanic to use in a meaningful way.

For anybody who has watched Zelda content on YouTube for even a short amount of time, you will have heard of this side quest being one of the best in all of Zelda history. Yep, its the Anju and Kafei quest. However, while I do like this quest, I've never seen anyone go into full detail on why this is the case. Allow me to explain why in the best detail that I can. Lets set the stage by introducing our four important character's of this side quest: the main couple Kafei and Anju, Kafei Mom, and the Postman. A brief synopsis's of this quest; you're reuniting a couple that's marrying at seemingly the end of the world. To do this, you must help Kafei to reclaim the sun mask and Anju by relaying Kafei messages and help sort out her fears and doubts of the marriage in the span of three days.
