When the appeal of trying to be a hypebeast zoomer YouTuber gets old, all you're really left with is a super watered down Horror game with no real objective other than find the coolest monster and fuck around with it for a minute.

I played the modern Persona games in order of Steam release, from 4 to 5 to 3 (skipping Portable because of rumors of Reload), and the fact that people can play Persona 3 and still prefer 4 or 5 only further proves that Persona fans can't read. 4 in particular. Jesus fucking Christ if I played the orignal Persona 3 when it came out and then played 4 after I probably wouldn't have played 5 at all.
Every game mechanic, from the Arcanas to the Social Links to the very Calender system that the other modern Persona games specializes in, all feel like an integral part of the experience, as opposed to a gameplay aspect or a method of progressing the plot. The decision to change from a specific date in which a major event will occur to a simple deadline that can be done at any point beforehand between P3 and P4 is one that has had irreperable consequences on the impact of the very Calender that P3 first concepted, despite being the first (modern) game to do so. In general, P3 utilizes and even plays around with its gameplay mechanics in a way that the other games could only pretend to do to the same extent. I have minimal experience with the original release of P3/FES, but I doubt that much differs aside from key quality of life changes and Direct Control of party members, which I think wouldn't have factored too much in my enjoyment nor my experience of the game anyway.
There are still a number of problems I had with the game. Social Links were overall written or implemented better in Persona 5 (Suemitsu is genuinely the worst SL in the series), despite having a few standouts like Akinari and Bebe. Tartarus becomes a really egregious chore, especially in the endgame where it feels suboptimal to not go to Tartarus every night and grind to at least a full Arcana Burst, which leads to long slogs where the only reason you're there is because you feel like you're wasting time doing anything else. And the central plot has a number of weak points, most prominently the "twist villain", the way new party members simply just showed up and were expected to be a part of the gang now, and the extremely dry and even somewhat forced arrival and subsequent befriending of a particular new student, as well as the general repititiveness of major events up until Hanged Man, but that fucking home stretch was worth it.
In conclusion, I truly owe you an apology Persona 3 fans. I actually was not familiar with your game.

Why and How does this game have Steam Trading Cards

Dude I don't give a shit about the blisters on my thumb I can play as FUCKING WARIO

This game's aesthetic is still unmatched in my eyes.

You say "Rock and Stone", I say "Building a Sentry!" literally every time I reposition.

Yeah it's awful AND racist but like I kinda miss when these types of games were the bottom line on Steam instead of shit like "Hentai Temple" and "My Third Cousin Twice Removed is a Futanari"

Someone from PopCap actually came to my school to talk about how the development of this game came about, and even gave away plushies and codes for the game during lunch. I won one of those codes. It was a really good day for me :)

Monster Prom but Twoer.

Still has the same problems as the original (being pigeonholed into a single romance path at the very start of the game through a semi-vague question, answers to scenarios being l0lrandom enough where it's difficult at times to discern what stats they draw from, the writing itself being super hit-or-miss, special endings requiring you succeed at most three sequential events in a row or else you fail it for the entire run, knowing you had an essentailly 50/50 chance of actually having fun or just being treated like a jackass, etc.) The difficulty is also unexpectedly high, my friend essentially aced every question with Aaravi until the very last event, which caused him to fall out with her at the very last second. It's also like, really hard to keep up the energy to read out loud for even the short games when you're not a YouTuber (~90 minutes). But hey, it's more Monster Prom, so if you like that I guess you'll like this one as well.

(Also also also the amount of Whedonisms/Lampshade Hanging in these games is sometimes just...too much? We encountered the Evil Capitalist Billionaire CEO who threatened to bulldoze the camp to make a shopping mall like, 4 different times. Yeah, I get it, it's a common camp trope and you're intentionally drawing light on it for comedic effect, write something else it's getting tired)

Persona 4 Golden using the struggles of gay and trans people as a narrative device is like using the horrors of the Holocaust in order to portray the message of "Always be nice to others!"

The funniest game of 2023 and it’s not even close

I spent 3 years meming on Bugsnax like it was MY Morbius, and then I play it and it turns out it FUCKS?

If you think Grandma Gertie isn't a based as fuck pick then you probably weren't that much interested in the game from the start

idgaf what any of yall say PC version was ahead of its time

They made Queen even more goated so it gets another half star from me
