2021

This is a game with a really good atmosphere and storyline, as well as nice characters. But everything related to the gameplay is simply depressing and gradually ceases to be interesting. It is indicative here that at the start of the game I did not understand why fast travel was on such a small map, but by the end the process of delivering letters and parcels turns into such a boring interlude between story episodes that I had to use it. I also have a lot of questions about both the technical state of the game and the overall level of polish and sophistication. There are many small problems in the game that knock you out of immersion. And even the brightest parts of Lake seem to lack depth, interactivity, and complexity.

Undoubtedly, after a while, the malleability of the gameplay and the general lack of polish will fade from memory. But even so, I will only remember Lake as a simple, warm and sweet story. And this is a little sad, because something much more memorable, important and complex could have been made from this project. But (and the game briefly teaches this) we don't always get what we want.

The rating is based mainly on the impressions of the story mode (Journey)

The story of Alex Hunter is quite trivial and canonical for the plots of the sports genre. It's nice to see good characters and attempts at small elections in the course of history. However, in my opinion, the main problem with this mode is that it is completely linear and does not respond to the player's actions. In the middle of the story, there is one mandatory segment with a loan, and it will happen even if you get the highest score in every match. The choices in the dialogues and the character system are practically useless, and there are no important decisions at all. Well, perhaps the hero is given everything too easily, even with obligatory loan. There is definitely not enough variety in the way the story is told, as the entire third act is essentially a match-practice mode, which is boring. Well, the far from ideal gameplay of the matches themselves also contributes to this, of course.

Overall, this mode, and all of FIFA 17, is a pretty average product in a mid-range product line that can grow in breadth but will always ignore forward development in favor of an annual release model.

Cute, tiny and cozy game. The story of an almost complete life of one person is told in it in the most minimalistic way possible - with the help of arranging interior items in rooms. And such an unusual way of presenting (albeit a simple) narrative almost exclusively through the gameplay is one of the main merits of the game. As a player, you understand the entire story of the main character by reading no more than a few sentences in the entire game. And just as nice is that the gameplay itself is extremely relaxing and simple. The result is a nice few hours of addictive gameplay with a good addition in the form of a full story. And one should hardly ask for more from a game with such a concept.

Nice little sim with a decent amount of stories and fun characters. The presence of several endings and random generation allows you to get 2-3 pleasant walkthroughs.

Pretty mixed feelings about this little project. On the one hand, it has a nice art design and soundtrack, as well as the overall idea. I like fairly large locations using verticality, as well as the overall progression of the toolkit (variation in weapons and perks) and difficulty. However, on the other hand, the gameplay is not very smooth and responsive (which is undoubtedly helped by the fact that I play a mobile port, and not the original for PlayStation consoles), artificial intelligence sometimes defies logical explanation, and the last levels with a bunch of enemies turn the game into rather uncomfortable action than stealth game. In general, this is an interesting experience in places (especially for the first game that I completely finished on the phone), but I can hardly note anything outstanding or simply excellent here (especially when looking at CounterSpy as a product for elder consoles).

A solid little quest with great main characters and a diverse world. It will not delight you, but it will give you some pleasant moments.

Review based mainly on the campaign, with only a few multiplayer matches

Battlefield 1 was not received too warmly at release, but as time goes by, you realize that this is really a pretty good game (especially in comparison with the following DICE projects). The campaign is not bad, especially those episodes of it that really look like a whole story, and not a kind of tutorial or piece of gameplay on which they tried to pull the plot. Pleased with several episodes in the first and last stories where you can choose the path and method to achieve the goal. These stories also have quite good characters. The variety of gameplay in different stories is also pleasing, and in general I rather favor the decision to present the campaign as individual episodes rather than the overall story, although this is obviously an easier way. Multiplayer is quite fun and chaotic. I would hardly stay in it for a long time, but I can not help but recognize its merits. And it's a pity that because of age of the game in many modes and maps no one plays anymore.

And instead of a conclusion, I will talk about how I first entered the game. After a playable prologue, I ended up in a completely black main menu. I decided to look in the settings, but it did not change anything. Going to the forum, I found out that this error is caused by the new launcher from EA, after which the pictures in the menu stopped loading (not only in Battlefield 1, but it seems also in Battlefield V). This bug report was dated 2020, and in 21 one of the developers wrote that everything was fixed. But as you can see, a year later, the bug is still here. Truly an EA moment.

It seems that I love small and constantly surprising projects more than others. But I can't help myself, because Superliminal is just like that!

Built around the concept of perspective, Pillow Castle's debut game takes you on a highly entertaining journey filled with varied and clever gameplay as well as simple yet important morals. Each level of the game feels unique and gives different emotions. The gradual immersion into the increasingly crazy halls of the game world fully pays off with a very solid and correct conclusion at the end, which really feels like the finale after the whole story before. The game constantly tries to surprise you, and often succeeds (especially towards the end), which is actually very cool. Perhaps Superliminal could have been a little more in depth in terms of puzzles (although I was already dumb on a couple of rooms), but it could easily break the pace of the game. Otherwise, it's hard to criticize this experience, because it was unique, diverse, emotional and rewarding. Also motivating and hopeful. I hope there will be more games like this in the future.

Meanwhile now Superliminal is the fountain of creativity and fullness that I and you should try to achieve if one day any of us set foot on the path of creating video games. After all, such projects really lay the seed for such thoughts.

Honestly, it feels like the most rushed version out of four original adaptations of the first film. The story is quite noticeably crumpled, the game is rather monotonous and empty, consisting mainly of easy but tedious puzzles and annoying backtracking (or tiring stealth). Hitting enemies is extremely awkward, flying is done with the weirdest camera possible, and overall the game is inferior in every aspect to every other version of this game. Only visually the game seems not bad (also the soundtrack was fine), but for me it is extremely strange that on a seemingly more advanced portable console this game is, however, smaller and simpler than the version for Game Boy Color (despite the fact that both of these versions were made by the same studio). Perhaps they simply didn't have enough time. Evidently the weakest version to come out in 2001, and definitely a version that can be easily skipped as a whole, since it hardly brings anything special or interesting to this family of different twins.
