Split down the middle is how I feel here. It has equal pros and cons. The shift to Clementine in this game is really well done, and it's a great time in the story to focus on her. This is the game where you feel the most sorry for her, and also where she goes through the most traumatic moments. I also like how the action is designed around her size and her age. Youre usually running away or trying to find clever solutions to problems rather than brute forcing them. This creates more interesting scenarios and setpieces overall.

The voice acting is way better this time around. And once again Gavin Hammon is a knockout performance.

This story is just so sloppy though and has so many stupid moments. Basically every character except Clementine is a total Buffon. You end up hating half the cast because they are so incompetent and unable to fend for themselves. Subplots and storylines are introduced and dropped so quickly that it's hard to get invested in them. And the way the characters treat one of the characters at the end of the series is just a joke. He is so unlikeable and so in the wrong yet these morons just refuse to see that. It dosent feel organic like you can understand their reasoning, it feels like they turned their brains off. The action is more creative in its setups, but in practice they weren't as fun or intense to sit through.

If you know about the history and development of this title you know that there is a LOT of cut content. So much so that the poster for episode 4 showed something that never even made it into the game. It explains why a lot of the game is poorly told: it's a stitched together mess that needed more time to be finished.

I have a small soft spot for this game because there are many moments I like. But it's not enough to save the stupidity on display.
