This one doesn't seem to have much in the way of metaphor, and doesn't feel very nice to control.

Wow. I thought it was all right, but after looking up the original game, I have to ask... why did they think this was an improvement?

This game has great highs, to be honest, and I feel like I only appreciate it more as it goes on. Alas, it's simply bloated with the Headspace sections. Say what you will about empathetic design — making the player wish for SUNNY to stop with the escapism so they can get back to the real story — it's really jarring when the last two hours of the game, its climax, see a Sunny Route player essentially forget about HEADSPACE entirely. Still... at least the presentation is superb throughout, and boss fights are satisfying.

Can't believe they put POLITICS in my shmup

Such wholesome, SFW arcade fun for the whole family!

I have no idea why I bought this.

The game's aesthetics are awesome, and playing as a swamp demon certainly appeals to the terato rogue fantasy so close to my heart... HOWEVER: The intense pixelisation inhibits visibility to the point of not only making the design hard to appreciate, but being detrimental to the very gameplay. The game's movement is wonderfully quick and slick, and the first Act is genuinely a great level to conquer. The second Act, however... frustrating puzzle mechanics that can be hard to understand, but do not provide a meaningful cerebral challenge. Even with perfect play, the level stretches on for far longer than it should, and is honestly no fun at all.

Sorry, Brush Burial.

Ugly graphics and music, but enjoyable mechanics and level design.

It's ugly and rather boring, but, technically, all right. So these were the guys behind Payday: The Heist, huh?

This game combines satisfying movement mechanics with simple level design encouraging the approach of an aggressive sort of rogue. I am ashamed to say, pacifist playthoughs seem nigh impossible, and frankly, not much fun. As far as achieving what it sets out to do, it is a good game!

Honestly? The graphics are nice, the gunplay feels solid, the level/objective design has its lows, but has its highs, too. It certainly isn't the sort to last for hundreds of hours... not with its lack of build variety and mind-numbing progression... but, it's not bad.

The expectations are stacked against it as it currently is, and I dare say, rightfully so. But it's not bad.

I love the story and its presentation, and even the soundtrack has its moments. I never understood the gameplay, though — one of those games where none of the moves appear to be different at all. I have seen others demonstrate stylish play, though, so I could be wrong.

Pretty graphics, solid gameplay. 'Tis a good shmup!

I would recommend it only for the easy Steam achievements.

I actually enjoy this a lot more than Ikaruga.
