Splatoon 3 is a solid continuation of a franchise that I will always admire the impressive originality of both in concept and execution. It is by far the most balanced of the three games at launch, and introduces several small but impactful gameplay mechanics to improve upon the already fantastic gameplay that the Splatoon concept provides.

Unfortunately the game still has issues that have been present throughout the entire franchise, and for no good reason begins with a very limited array of guns; a pure, objective downgrade coming from Splatoon 2, that by the end of its life had an incredible variety of weapon kits to pick from. It is frustrating to me how there's great small improvements across the board, but they decided to drip-feed so much content could easily and should have been in the game at launch. As of writing this, two months from release, there still is not a SINGLE new weapon in the game, which is frustrating. There are also ton of communication error issues and basic QoL stuff when it comes to playing with friends, along with the frustrating rotation of just two maps (wherein you end up getting one of them 80% of the time) that has been something complained about since Splatoon 1.

The new campaign also must be mentioned, as it is fantastic, and not only contains tons of genuinely fun gimmicks throughout each of the unique levels, but also some very interesting lore that makes going through each level absolutely worth it.

8/10
