@Skylian yeah, when talking about videogames on a videogame site i consider it a given that people acually like playing them, so i didn't really consider situations like that.
FFX is possibly one of the cheapest games on PS2, even after the recent inceasing of prices, so i don't really know what you're talking about

Seriously, why should anyone start a series from any chapter that isn't the first one? Would you ever do that with a movie franchise or with a TV series, or anything else, really? Even if you're playing something without a strong continuity, why would you do that? Like, there's clearly a number in the title, so it IS supposed to be played after the prior ones. Videogames are an interactive media with lots of things going on at once, they aren't just a story that you can read on wikipedia. There may not be a narrative continuity but you can bet there will some sort of gameplay continuity. Or maybe even just a recurring theme, a returning NPC, some reused assets or SFX: something that you are supposed to be recognizing and that you will be missing out.
Why should you take yourself away the pleasure of discovering it by playing the series in a messy order? Is there a logical reason to play, idk, Persona 4 before Persona 3? Will you like P3 more after doing so?
p.s. sprites in Ace Attorney trilogy completely suck compared to the original ones. Same goes for FFX HD: face animations are completely missing in the remaster and obviously there's a whole bunch of stuff different from the original game. The same probably goes for other remasters too, but i don't know them enough so i can't say really
