Metal Gear Solid: Gamer Matrix Edition
A remake of Metal Gear Solid 2 with worse vibes and tech demo first person stuff. I gotta imagine this was incredible in 2001 but has aged worse than Metal Gear Solid.
A lot of the emotional beats fall flat both because they center around Raiden who is a loser. For some reason (budget?) most of the story is told through codec conversations which are boring and look worse than they did in the PS1 games. It's not horrible but it's a shame because the story was a strength of the first game.

i salute him for making a fail male, as I salute anyone who does
Yup. Kojima likely detests Raiden, which is why he made him a gamer. But at the end of the day, gamers pay his salary and I think he honors that.
considering the fact that raiden can be perceived as a representation of the player ig him being a loser really reflects yourself!!!!
says the guy with a Raiden pfp. snake represents the player.
@Giap i dont think he reflects upon myself because I am not a hot fail male.
Metal Gear Solid 3 posits that Raiden represents losers and you shouldn't role play as him because then you'll be a loser to. Altho they say "fairy" instead.
@brockreiher I suggest you replay MGS2 cuz snake has nothing to do with the player
@brockreiher theres one moment where Raiden is mistaken for a woman and that is by the prez, anyways if thats all you retained from MGS2, again i really suggest you replay it
@brockreiher im not that far in MGS3 but even if i had finished your statement wouldnt still make any sense, please reformulate that shit
Snake is the player in every single metal gear sokid game except for the one where Kojima was forced to change the main character. That last game is about how the new main character is a loser compared to Snake, and how executive interference censoring art is the world's great evil.
@giap
theres an extended segment in mgs3 where you have to dress up as Raiden and the whole time every character jokes about how lame he is and the boss calls is a "fairy disguise"

@brockreiher Solid Snake is the protag in 2 games, anyways if you failed to get that raiden is the representation of the player in mgs2 again in mgs2 not any other mgs i really suggest replaying it
@brockreiher raiden is supposed to feel like a loser thats literally the whole point but does it mean he is one not really
@brockreiher could you send a link or smth where kojima said he was forced to change the protag
@brockreiher also send me smth related to that extended segment in mgs3 cuz i couldnt find anything related, but despite that ig you really felt touched when sum random russian npcs started attacking your masculinity... cough cough.. i mean raidens masculinity
Solid Snake is the protagonist in 4 not counting spinoffs. As for the rest just finish the game. It's not missable how much contempt Kojima has for Raiden, and being pissed off at Konami is the inspiration for the patriots.
And the Boss is naked snake's mentor, not "some random NPC"

This explains why Kojima has said every MGS was his favorite at one point or another except for 2. He probably is ashamed of 2 I would guess.
