most hated songs

if i just lay here...

i wanted an excuse to vent about snow patrol and i thought this would be a fun way to do it

"chasing cars" by snow patrol

i hate this brand of inoffensive soft rock. it's so toothless. it's so lame. before i cared about what i listened to, i owned two kidz bop cds (10 and 11) which i listened to every night when i went to sleep. this was on one of them. so not only am i painfully familiar with this song - i'm also painfully familiar with an even shittier kidz bop cover of it
"hey there delilah" by plain white t's

pretty much marks exactly what i don't like about this era of folky emo type shit. annoying, mopey and kinda weird. "OHHHH ITS WHAT YOU DO TO ME" is permanently ingrained in my mind and i want it OUT
"jumper" by third eye blind

i mostly just have a grudge against this one for steering me away from the rest of the album for so long. turns out just about every other song is actually good! who'd have thought? certainly not me after hearing this lame shit!!!!!!!
"passenger" by deftones

i love this band but this song bugs the shit out of me. maynard's performance is super distracting and doesn't mesh with chino's style at all. it's not entirely his fault though, because when i heard chino perform this live it still sucked ass. worst song from a great album
"pistol (a. cunanan, miami, fl. 1996)" by modest mouse

strangers to ourselves is a terrible album in almost every regard as is, but this is just fucking obnoxious. brock really lets out his worst vocals as he seemingly drunkenly blurts out, IVE GOT MY PISTOL. UHUHH shut up. shut the fuck up!!!
"everlong (acoustic version)" by foo fighters

i actually like early foo fighters quite a bit (maybe more than most since i think one by one is a good album). but i don't like this track. it's just an energy-devoid and shitty version of an otherwise decent song
"drive" by incubus

if it's not obvious by this point i really hate 90s and 00s soft rock. this song's boring and i resent it for being patient zero before this band made it the blueprint for their entire sound. it being super fucking overplayed doesn't help
"warning" by green day

any green day song that's utterly toothless like this is total trash. time of your life was an especially strong contender, but i haven't heard it in passing nearly as much (don't ask me how that's possible)
"the unforgiven" by metallica

i dont like the black album. this is a track that encapsulates why. boring, mega simplified and lame
"gary come home" by stew(?)

shit episode. shit song. boring. i sleep. pee pee poo poo

Yeah that Third Eye Blind albums rips so much ass. The electric guitar kick in during The Background, my god. just every song is a great 90's portal.
I would probably pick Time of Your Life if it was early Green Day (anything after 21st Century Breakdown would probably have the real worst song for me, maybe Kerplunk) because Time of Your Life was played at my middle school graduation ceremony so now its eternally cheesy for me.
I still fuck with Drive but I would get it if that stopped persueing any nu-metal influence at all. Kind of opened my mind a little when I realized some of those songs on Make Yourself are definitely Nu-Metal

Never have I seen before a better and more accurate description for the song "Gary come home". However, I'll admit I have a fondness for it simply because of how funny it is to me xD.

Great list!

@ShineSpark Green Day ruled hard (past tense). Dookie was big for a reason, and that was its explosive burst of youthful energy. Really speaks to the angst and nowhere to go of teens. I get you though cause I don't understand how anyone can like Green Day past their 2009 album because I think they lost any of their ability to make pop punk (as 90% of pop punk bands do as they get older)

@snigglegros yeah my dad actually baited me into liking that third eye blind record with 'losing a whole year' and i was like, man... i feel like i've heard this before and i like it a lot - why don't i know what it is???

i think 'time of your life' is proooobably worse in the grand scheme of things than warning, but i've heard it less because i knew to avoid it. 'warning' i've heard in passing way too much. all their later stuff post-american idiot is almost certainly worse, but ignorance is bliss

yeah i can't do 'drive' but i do still like some of the tracks on that album a lot. 'pardon me' was a huge childhood fav for me

@shinespark ditto on the spongebob point. i'll add regarding snow patrol though that the song was still everywhere, kidz bop or not. some other songs from those albums i heard both in studio and kidz bop form all the time were 'you're beautiful', 'bad day' and 'savin me'. all of which were pretty chart-dominating if memory serves correctly (not sure about that nickelback track tho)

just got reminded from talking about this shit that 'hey there delilah' was on there too. fucking despise that song. gonna add it lmao

@deemonandgames thank you. i was expecting flak for shitting on gary comes home but i'm glad i'm not alone in finding that episode to be fuckin trash (and this is coming from someone who loves like, EVERY s1-3 episode. even i was a teenage gary)
aw cmon not gary come home 😢

eh its alright, sweet victory clears
@chandler tbf, Gary come home is from season 4 and that season definitely has its stinkers
idk if its just nostalgia but I actually like Delilah, a ton of mid 2000's songs are pretty nostalgic tbf..heard it on the radio all the time lol

what if everlong was acoustic

gary come home got NOTHING on ripped pants

@chandler A someone that loves and constantly references that first three seasons, hard agree there, that episode is just a bunch of misses and it's a huge shame... I still find the song ironically funny tho xD.

@Huss TRUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, Ripped Pants goes HARD.
ripped pants is goated

@nowitsreyntime17 i like a lot of things from the same era - stuff like 'move along' by all american rejects comes to mind. 'makedamnsure' by taking bad sunday as well. i might do a list about those too. but plain white t's are pretty much case in point of the kinda shit from that era that i cannot stand even with having a lot of nostalgia for the time

@guttertrash heh, pretty cool huh?

@huss fax machine

@shinespark like most people who consider s1-3 a personality trait i don't really have a bad thing to say about any episode from that era. i think top 3 tho would be sb-129, procrastination and doing time. i love s1 in general because of how unrefined it is. characters go off-model a lot, the coloring fluctuates frequently and the animation in general is a lot weirder. sb-129 is the peak of all things great about s1 and i think few would argue that. sleepy time is also a strong example of that. that said, procrastination and doing time are easily the trippiest episodes in the s1-3 bunch and i love them for that. the deleted scene in procrastination is also one of my favorite gags (spongebob imagining getting his license and there being a cutaway to footage of a drag race crash). likewise the ending of doing time is just fucking insanity. also 'a memoir of my life written in red ink' is a top tier joke even in a series full of top tier jokes

this was a long stream of conscious response but if it's not clear by now - i kinda like spongebob. only other show to really come close to those early seasons for me is ren & stimpy

@deemonandgames no shame in that. i'd rather enjoy a song than not enjoy it. i just don't. i always found showtunes kinda annoying in general but i still have a soft spot for ripped pants, sweet victory, this grill is not a home, etc. it's really just shit in s4 and on that grates on me. best day ever especially makes my eyes roll
Thata fair I guess. Is doing time that one mrs puff episode where she goes to jail? That's one of my least favorites lol. My top 3 would probably be wet painters, can you spare a dime and as cliche as it is band geeks

@nowitsreyntime17 yeah it's the one where she goes to jail. cant imagine that being a least favorite. the attempted bank robbery, the 'life outside prison' gag, 'red ink' and the borderline disturbing direction with mrs. puff's sanity are all things that make it top tier for me. no free rides is another fav for me that has a similar vibe with jokes like 'educational television' and 'now back to k.r.u.d'
It's got a couple real good gags yeah but it was always one of my least favorites as a kid idk
