perhaps. i dunno if i wanna run through the whole game again anytime soon but i'll keep it in mind for the future nonetheless

as an enjoyer of ff6, ff6's strength is not really in the minutia of its script so i can totally get why you felt that way. you kinda gotta look at its story from an eagle eye view, and try to piece together what the creators were going for. it hasn't really aged the greatest in a lot of ways, but its actual strength is less in its execution of any specific theme or idea, but in its scope (and it being unintentionally hilarious pretty much constantly imho), which you miss a lot of context for by not playing the second half of the game

"hasn't aged well" doesn't really mean anything to me. hardware ages but good game design in my eyes is timeless. if i can still play yars revenge and have a good time, then the notion that ff6 aged poorly - especially when i enjoy several games before it from the same series - is pretty weak

i don't think anything about ff6 is aged or dated. i just think of it as a jack-of-all-trades in too many regards. i precisely believe that the scale and scope of the project is its downfall. i'd much rather have a scaled down game focused on its strengths than some colossal mix of mid with 400 characters who are all equally undeveloped. that's why i like chrono trigger much more

i did also play a good chunk of the second half and i know what happens beyond that. suffice to say it didn't win me over
