A masterpiece of its time. The vibes, the world, Samus the gay icon.

The map design still feels so engaging and creative. It elicits the same spark of excitement and "aha!" moments as even the best Metroidvanias nowadays.

There were three different times where I had absolutely no idea what to do. Twice was because I had to go back to a very specific point on the map to use a new ability, something I couldn't possibly have remembered unless I had noted it down; and the third after killing Ridley where the only exit is a fake wall that gives no indication that you can walk through it.

I also found the boss fights quite boring. Samus' movement and shooting are not built for these large scale fights so they mostly just boiled down to firing every missile as fast as possible and just tanking every hit.

Had to look up what to do three times
