Half-Life Ranking

Nothing here!

Half-Life
Half-Life
Borderline perfect. Exciting, expertly paced, crafted in a way few games before were and few games since have managed to capture. Also maybe the best ending in a video game?

Half-Life 2: Episode Two
Half-Life 2: Episode Two
Adam Foster was hired from his expert Minerva mod and you can feel his hand on this one. Levels are very winding and built with quite a bit of verticality. Also ending it like that and not resolving it was pimp as fuck.

2

Half-Life: Alyx
Half-Life: Alyx
on a Valve Index this thing is unreal. It's a game that is gatekeep by the means with which you play it, but if you CAN play it, PLAY IT!!!

3

Half-Life 2
Half-Life 2
Highs are enormously high, lows are distressingly low. Way too long, has too much fat on the bone, but is an extremely compelling road journey with incredible story beats all the way to a kick ass ending.

4

Half-Life 2: Episode One
Half-Life 2: Episode One
Mercifully shorter and tighter than Half-Life 2, you get to have Alyx throughout the game, and it makes good use of the combat in a short time-span by gradually giving you your arsenal. The final level STINKS though.

5

Half-Life: Opposing Force
Half-Life: Opposing Force
A lot of creative level design, doesn't do anything better than Half-Life, but also doesn't embarrass itself. The multiplayer was also a blast to play.

6

Half-Life: Blue Shift
Half-Life: Blue Shift
Poo Shift. Or Blue Shit. Pick one.

7

Half-Life: Decay
Half-Life: Decay
A cool novelty on the PS2. A complete and utter bore in any other context.
