The amount of invincibility frames they give you in this game is so fucking amazing. I felt like a fucking god sliding through fuckers and dodging hits. The combat is definitely a step up from Soul Blazer, but it still definitely retains a bit of that (good) jank that lets you fuck enemies up super fast. Unfortunately, I think everything else is quite a step-down. The story is moving at like 200 mph with so many random things being introduced. It's entertaining in a "LOL WTF JUST HAPPENED" sort of way. Like, when you get captured by cannibals and your pig friend has to sacrifice himself I was absolutely losing my shit. The themes carried over here which is nice and definitely make this game worth playing, especially for the ending. Great palette cleanser game before moving on to the main attraction.

Time to check out Terranigma!

The combat is pretty janky, dated, repetitive, and very simple. It's a very big negative, but it's also the only one.

Soul Blazer is immensely satisfying to play. After about 10 minutes I was already hooked. This is the type of game that clicks instantly. Kill enemies, free villages, talk, rinse and repeat. It's so simple and insanely addicting for the entire game. This is also followed up by the fact that everything in the game has an insanely weird tone. Yeah, you can talk to people, goats, mice, plants, doors(?!) and this leads to some funny dialogue or events. However, some of these guys are pondering their own existence in a way that isn't overly self-indulgent or edgy. These moments are often as comical as they are melancholic. This makes for an extremely unique tone that I haven't seen accomplished in any other game.

Even with the poor combat, this game isn't very long and is an extremely unique experience. I'll be checking out Illusion of Gaia very soon. Recommended to everyone.

Elf: The Movie for the Game Boy Advance is a fascinating title. We don't usually see video games made out of movies like this... Just for that, I think it deserves its praises to be sung.

However, this game has a fatal flaw. I haven't seen Elf. Throughout my playtime, I was very confused about the overall plot of this particular entry in the Elf franchise. It's quite disgusting how reliant this game is on you having seen the game's namesake, Elf: The Movie.

Hopefully, we see a proper remaster in the coming years with added dialogue options, better graphics, multiple endings, and the same tight platformer controls.

Do yourself a favor and check out this little hidden gem of a game of a movie. Thank you, Buddy.

They have hella grind in this game and one of the most mind-numbing final dungeons I've ever seen. The battles are really fun, but I feel like each dungeon goes on like 30-45 minutes too long from the encounters/grinding you'll probably have to do if you want a certain skill/spell. I wasn't really into a lot of the music, but I do think it's objectively good and fits the tone and atmosphere of the world. I think the world and atmosphere are the real reason you'd want to play DDS. From the start, I wanted to figure out what was happening in the world and ended up being captivated by the cast. There's going to be at least 1 character in the party you'll love by the end of the game (PROBABLY GALE BUT HEAT IS BETTER).

I'm torn between a 6 or 7 out of 10 so we'll call this one a 7. I'm not sure if I want to play the sequel, but I had a good time with this one. Joke about comprehending goes here #HEATSWEEP

Didn't really expect to like this as much as I did. Xenoblade's got a bad rep, especially 2, but it's a pretty awesome experience.

The scenery is insane right off the bat. You could fucking climb up a big ass mountain and jump off the cliff into a lake below. The developers did a great job showing off the scale of everything in the entire world and really making it seem grandiose. Though, this comes at the cost of you having to hit the auto-run button through a big ass field, going to the bathroom, and coming back to find you stopped auto-running because a dinosaur locked onto you from 80 miles away. (lol)

The music is straight gas. They just seriously dropped nonstop bangers the whole game. Shit goes hard.

The combat, overall, was alright. I'm sure I would have had a lot more fun in a normal action game, but what's here is decent for most of the game. There are some REALLY annoying parts toward the end and a FUCKTON of enemies always on your ass in most areas. You'll mostly end up spamming the same few moves because the AI sucks for both the enemies and team members. Blah blah blah Mechon fights blah blah blah Monado gimmicks blah blah blah

The characters, they're also just okay? Shulk carries the main party really hard and Dunban comes in at a close second with some really awesome speeches. I didn't expect to like Riki and Melia much, but they have some great scenes before it feels like they just chip in for a line or two here and there. Reyn is a pretty chill bro I don't really have much to say about him. Fiora is okay??? She has some standout scenes, but if Shulk wasn't constantly saying her name I think I would forget she was even there. Finally, fuck Sharla, her dumbass brother, and everyone else in Colony 6! I just wish the main story had some more scenes of the entire party hanging out because I did like the interactions they had.

Story-wise, I never felt like I was waiting for something to happen or that it was being padded out. Right when I thought it would get boring some new crazy shit just randomly appears and some new stuff gets revealed. It's pretty consistent assuming you're not wandering around doing side-quests for Colony 6 bums.

Overall, very good! Best thing ever? Nope. Worst thing ever? Nope.
Just a pretty great story with amazing music and a so-so game attached... So, the Xeno series.
Recommended!!!!!!!!

Some enemies are just plain annoying to fight and almost every boss is a bore or insanely annoying (fuck you Arkham). The camera also sucks sometimes.

Still, it's stylish, fun, and easy to grind out in just a few days. The cutscenes are amazing and are probably some of my favorite video game cutscenes from start to end SHITS GOATED!!! Really good and definitely worth checking out!

"The sky above me looks like a vast ocean, speckled with stars. In the tranquil silence, a butterfly of light drifts by me."

Easily the best visual novel I've ever experienced. The impact this shit had on me was profound.

Grab a drink, some snacks, and mentally prepare yourself for some of the most heart-wrenching moments ever because I don't think I ever cried more at any piece of fiction than this series.

I'll have to think about it a bit longer, but Haku is definitely a contender for my favorite character in anything ever. His progression as a person throughout the duology is just so fucking peak from start to finish. Every single event in this game was either hilarious or emotionally impactful and Haku's character serves every scene perfectly. There really isn't another character quite like him. Also, a big shoutout to my boy Kiwru nobody suffered as much as he did!!!!!!

I'll keep this one short, but if you like visual novels you're doing yourself a major disservice if you haven't played this. This is most definitely peak fiction.

"A life of nothing but sleeping and eating? Sign me up. If you want to switch spots, then knock yourself out. Enjoy hard labor!"

"omg its so good" no its not it sucks

Absolutely enthralling from start to finish.

I wouldn't say 13 Sentinels has the best writing or story I've seen, but the way it's presented is absolutely fantastic. Mushing every sci-fi trope together and making this giant amalgamation of plot twists that only increases how confused you are. I loved piecing the story together and trying to figure out the order everything took place and having to rearrange my entire brain when something new got revealed.

I've gotta shout out the English voice acting in this game because MAN did they do good. Usually, I'll try and listen to the English voices for like an hour and switch to Japanese but the voice acting here is stellar.

The battles are pretty whatever since they're so easy, but they serve to give you some fucking fire songs and usually a funny interaction or two after a battle. EXCEPT FOR THE FINAL BATTLE THAT WAS PEAK!!!!

I don't think it's perfect as I didn't really like how some of the characters were handled compared to others. Though, it's kind of impossible to give anything lower than a 9/10 when I think about how much of the story stuck in my mind as I tried to piece together events.

If you can sense any form of soul, you will be forced to kneel to this game at some point. If you like sci-fi and visual novels DEFINITELY check this out.

SHOUT OUT MIYUKI!!!!! SHE'S A REAL ONE!!!

Amazing game, I regret not finishing the SNES version because I definitely can't go back to it after this. It's very well-rounded with lots of interesting stories to tell. Not a single miss in any of the time periods.

My top 3 periods were:
1. Imperial China
2. Near future
3. Prehistory

Just play the game.

I LOVE YUNICA!!!!!!!

Fantastic game, but I'm not doing 3 playthroughs of the same levels back-to-back for the whole fucking story.

Bravo on the OST, Falcom. I will return one day.

"It was a long, hard journey... But we did the right thing... Didn't we, Ryu?"

Going in, I expected a pretty simple, old, and generic JRPG. After playing, I was honestly surprised by how charming the game is.

BoF3 has a pretty simple narrative, but it really allows each of its characters a lot of time to shine. Like, COME ON I LOVE THIS DUDE REI!!!!!! DUDES THE GOAT!!!!! I also really appreciated how expressive Ryu was for a silent protagonist. You can really tell how much of a goof he is as a kid just from a few interactions. A surprising amount of those interactions are genuinely funny and caught me off guard with some of the scenarios multiple times.

The combat in the game is also really fun when you get access to mix and match the spells, genes, and party members. Unfortunately, this leaves the first 40%-ish of the game mostly lacking (both in combat and story) and tedious. Though once you make it past that, then the game really opens up. I would have given the game a lower score but MAN was I surprised by just how COOL stuff gets near the end (KINO FINAL BOSS).

This is also the only game I've played with a little onion dude and the best fishing minigame ever so yeah. kino/10

An amazing campy old-school PS1 JRPG with beautiful art direction, sprite work, and music. Definitely check this one out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
