They had the gameplay down in III, why did they fuck it up for this one? It's extremely tiresome, the backtracking is way more obscene than in the last one, and the last act feels like it was made to just waste your time.
That said, the story is good and the plot points introduced here are pretty interesting, setting up the world for the next several games.

You're not entirely wrong, but I'll take "it's nothing but it looks cool" over "it's nothing and a chore". Preference.
