I like Yokai Watch Blasters, but Blasters T is an absolute slog to get through. As of the time I'm writing this the servers for 3ds online are also down so i can't suffer through this abysmal game mode with friends. "If it's so bad," you ask, "why not just ignore it?" You can't. Many of Yokai Watch 3's features are locked behind the completion of the game mode in a frustratingly odd decision and so no matter how badly I wanted to do literally anything else in this game, I was always dragged back to Blasters T.
This was my second time playing Yokai Watch 3 and I found myself enjoying it and dreading it more than my first playthrough all because of that damned game mode. This time around I intended to complete every single quest as well as the other side modes that should have been quests but weren't for whatever reason (Zombie Night and Zenlightenment). And I'm really glad I did! These quests really are the cream of the crop of this game oftentimes showcasing the writing at its silliest and most absurd. Hell, there were even a couple heartfult and badass moments squeezed in there. But for every one of these I had to do a dozen or so Blasters T dungeons to progress in the main game, and I just can't recommend that for everyone. Yokai Watch 3 is a uniquely fun game with an identity like no other that forces you to play its generic dungeon crawler if you want to enjoy it to the max, and that's so so tragic.
