A really great shooter with interesting mechanics, a fascinating world, and clearly a strong legacy as you can see the influence it has had on modern gaming without a doubt. It holds up pretty well, better than many games released years later in the early 2000's. It feels a little old 25 years later, but far from unplayable. The weapons are varied and unique, as are the enemies. The missions and world are iconic, and this game is responsible for one of the greatest sequels of all time. Story-wise, I wish I had played this first, but I felt more engaged with a more limited set of characters and plot because of my HL2 experience.
