Even better than the base game, with crazier, denser, and more specific puzzles. They touch on a bunch of different themes and feelings, ending with a sweet little send off.

Wonderfully rendered puzzle game that gets sort of trippy toward the end. It might get kind of confusing! Did not feel bad for liberally using the hint feature. So cute!

I won't be rating this game because I don't want to come at it from any serious point of judgement. My issues with it are entirely personal, coming from a point of preference. The music, character designs, and combat are all to die for. This game, without question, is a must play. I love everything about this game -- except the dungeons.

The platforming is incredibly frustrating and flimsy, all the while the dungeons hide doors and pathways from you. This could be seen as a positive, but it happens in ways that can't be interfaced with by standard means of game play. If you don't pick up on a slight shadow in the corner of the room, you will be running in circles. Finally, an attempt at a puzzle in the 2D space was what took all the wind out of my sails.

I'll be playing the sequels and returning to this one if any of those strike my fancy.

Unreal. Looking forward to NG+.

At that point I will have more to say.

An extremely frustrating experience from an otherwise exciting and genre-defining franchise. Baroque, self-cannibalizing level design partnered with some disturbingly undercooked enemy interaction cause Resident Evil 4 (2023) to fall far down my ladder of interest. Repetitive stakes and sudden design language shifts imply a lack of identity more than a meticulously crafted mosaic. Some of the more outlandish set pieces allow us to see the game's beautifully rendered, visceral violence absent of the poor level design and conflicting systems. These sequences serve the player up some of the most fulfilling action this wave of remasters has dished out. I can't help but feel like if the rest of the game were similarly identifiable, Resident Evil 4 (2023) would have been my game of the year.

A game frothing with confidence. What is there is delicious and there's a lot there, but I found myself getting lost in the 3d space. This lead to some frustration which eventually led to me settling on shelving this game.

Standout here for me would be the modelling work in-engine and some of the big shots and camera work. This is a must play.

Hits all of its marks. The performances are genuinely thrilling, level design and scenery were clearly a major focus here, and choices not only matter but are formed and presented in ways previously unexplored. Gets to the root of videogames ability to tell a narrative in ways only a videogame can. The tricks and illusions here are bountiful. I could see people missing the curiousity of the game. Gives you back only what you give it.

Word of warning: play on new hardware. This pushed my little old PS4 to its absolute limit.

It is impossible to be at ease with the sheer audacity and ceaseless rhythm that the team behind this game wielded the craft to be able to produce this absolute murder weapon of a videogame before us. Nothing comes close to this: in direction, in application, in concept, in instinct, in feel. Drink in all of its character, details, and systems. You will be thoroughly nourished.
