pronounspronouns reviewed Silent Hill: The Escape
tbh this probably has a better story than silent hill 4

slimedotcom played MultiVersus
this game STILL feels like shit to play, it STILL feels like slamming 2 pngs together and watching them fly around the screen. I refuse to accept the revisionist history that what I played in 2022 was a beta

Every block string auto combo is so safe on block, they all do your spacing for you so they can't even get a low kick in after the string and even if they have a chance you can do an input cancel into any input and guess what that shit is also safe as its - 6 and your fastest inputs come out on frame 6 so it doesn't even matter if its negative since they can block right after.

- Auto-combo blockstrings don't meaningful (if any) chip damage, and characters have to rely on either stopping mid auto-combo to go for a grab, using a special (none of which are going to be like, 14 frame overheads or ways to actually crack open an opponent), or they have to be character specific variations like Bubs who can go into a high/low from his autocombo, neither of which can be combo'd from and the high doesn't even knock down, basically acting like a vanilla DBFZ 6B

- Most jabs in the game are frame 5. There are slower jabs (like Vas) but these are exceptions rather than the rule, and the game is balanced around these characters not being able to mash out of pressure as easily, much like how Axl in +R is weak to tick throws because he has to mash out with a 6 frame 5K.

every input is safe, light special, medium special, heavy special, or even the unique special they are all safe.

This game has spotdodge, rolls, powerful OS's, plentiful invulnerable attacks/supers and dead angles, along with grabs being (sub-optimally, the game still encourages you to tech properly!) dealt with by pressing an attack button. Opening people up,
despite everything being safe, is already difficult and relies on cast-wide strike throw conditioning on top of every character's individual tools. Yes, 66L is plus and lets you continue pressing buttons. If you're holding down back, and paying attention to what your opponent, these predictable and on paper "safe" offensive options are opportunities for the opponent to hang themselves.

Siegfried's 214M is a great example. On block, depending on how long you charge, it can get pretty plus. However, the longer you charge, the easier it is for your opponent to spot dodge this 30 frame special move on reaction and get a fat CH starter for predictable offense.

Only way you can get out of a block string is if they reset neutral cause all you can do is block

Yeah, if you're mashing on the
universal 3 move autocombo everyone has, you're gonna get smacked. Again, there's so many defensive tools that outside of mashing in stupid places and not respecting your opponent's frame data, I don't feel like offense is too strong in this game,.

you can do nothing in the corner but hope they mess up or use your meter for a counter attack.

Again, plus on block dead angle. It does increase the damage you take and might deprive you of a combo resource later in the match, but that results in interesting decision making. Do I hold these plus frames? Do I try to jump out of the corner if they're gonna go for a low? Can I get a read on their offensive habits and get the CH? Also, again, meterless DPs for even zoners aren't rare. Getting put in the corner isn't even the end of the world, as most of the "good" oki in this game consists of safejump/jabs.

This game is way too safe, and just too casual friendly.*

Apparently it's not casual friendly enough because core game mechanics that create interesting decision making went over your head. I don't even love the game, I only gave it one star rating higher than you did, but these critiques come from someone who just doesn't get GBVS.
