Brisk adventuring, excellent 1-bit art and great action gameplay. And I love the sense of humour around the cat, with your owner being proud and congratulatory whenever you get an upgrade.
If there's a few issues I have, they are:
- the "cat" controls can be frustratingly finicky, with a tiny character jumping at high speed all over the screen.
- navigating is pretty brainless: the next objective is nearly always right in front of you.
- the ending did not take itself seriously enough for me (trying to be vague). Great tone for the opening, but kinda weak for an ending.

Replayed for the first time since 2013. Absolutely incredible game. Shows that the rigid way Zelda has used "Metroidvania" structure over the previous 20 years was way too restrictive and not adding much.
It's fun to choose where to explore next! A dungeon can still be great fun without a key item hidden inside! And these ideas can fit into a nice dense world, rather than the sprawl of BotW (which I also love).
The design of everything here is so tight - the controls, the dungeons, the minigames! I love the challenging bonus chests hidden in the dungeons.
Love the music, love the characters (colourful modern Zelda characters injected back into ALttP), even the central story is surprisingly good. The only thing less than inspiring is the visual style, but even that has its moments to shine, and the 60fps is worth the cutbacks.
